Hard agree. I broke down the ways this could get weird in my post, but I just hope Impulse and TangoTek stick by their actual, real life friend. It also sucks if they boot him because Skizzleman made the (potentially unwise) decision to move to being a full-time Youtuber after he got onto Hermitcraft.
Let’s be real, it’s a symptom of Internet purity culture that has infested every single FUCKING place where every single FUCKING thing anyone says has to be totally perfect at all times or you are the devil himself. It’s gay, it sucks, everyone hates it.
Well, none of the Hermitcraft chicks are great lookers anyway.
I mean, they’re pro Minecraft players that’s taken as read until proven otherwise.

You're absolutely correct, but a lot of the Hermits still seem to believe the woke mob can be appeased by saying the "right" words and doing the "right" actions, when the best move is to ignore them and move on with your life (and your normal fans)

The good news is that I’ve been monitoring the situation, and the overwhelming opinion is that it’s a nothingburger spurred on by a few weirdos and that if the Hermits kick him out they will set a disastrous precedent.
Hopefully nothing too stupid happens, and I think things will go alright.

I hope it goes that way. I don't watch Skizz, but he seems like a nice enough fellow (who I hope has learned a valuable lesson about how deranged and outright dangerous these fans are)

Caught up, most comments outside of madhouses like Twatter and other Hermitcraft related echo chambers are pretty supportive of Skizz, this will blow over in no time when people realize that the most people got to defame is...liking a comedian.
It’s gay, it sucks, everyone hates it.
Except the gays that do it all the time of course.

Cobblemon 1.8 is out.
Official Alpha Pokemon they function in a more interesting way than the unofficial addon, same with the TMs and you can actually make them, size variations (due to Alpha pokemon), more structures, overhauled Pokemon habitats, spawn pool editor (which I'd love to mess around with), new move effects and animations, and probably other shit. They're sticking with 1.21.1 instead of version chasing completely, only bad part is that a lot of addons will probably break again.

Please allow me to be a whiny bitch for a moment:

This update took the longest of any Cobblemon update in years. There was a 10 month gap between the releases of 1.7 and 1.8 (9 months between 1.7.3 and 1.8).
Despite this, it adds the least new content of any update so far. Almost everything it adds was already accounted for with well-done and popular side-mods and/or could be argued as a minor addition. (A new tooltip got an entire bulletpoint to itself, for god's sake.) Some of the remodels it adds look worse than the models they're replacing (Buneary is maybe the most obvious example, to the point that even the official discord wasn't sweet on it), and there are completed remodels and animations from almost a year ago still left unimplemented. There are also major features-- most notably breeding-- that are absent despite having been "basically done" for over half a year and previously being billed for this very update. There were very few sneak-peeks for this entire update gap, and a lot of them were experimental features with little importance (eg a photo mode for the pokedex, another revamp of trading, a bunch of different visual variants of existing blocks) that were repeatedly stressed to not be for 1.8, which indicates a large shift from how communicative the team was during updates 1.5-1.7.
The devs even seemed to be aware of this, as they heavily emphasized that this update had a larger emphasis on remodels, animations, and riding updates than any other they'd done so far to compensate... but 1.8 has almost half as many model + animation updates as 1.7 had, only adds 6 new rideable Pokemon (none of which are common sense staples like Rapidash, Pidgeot, or Dodrio), and barely adds any new Pokemon despite having fewer than 30 non-legendaries left to implement. It is borderline anemic compared to 1.7, which itself was already smaller than 1.6.

This isn't a bad update. Maybe it is by previous standards, which is the only reason I'm complaining, but it's still relatively comprehensive and interesting. I just want to point it out, as I think it's indicating some kind of trouble in the dev team. I'm guessing there are too many cooks in the kitchen, and they're all too distracted with their own pet features to work as cohesively as they did before, which is causing major number updates like this one to come out more like half-baked interim updates (despite longer gaps between releases).

I actually thought 1.7 itself felt a little undercooked (even after the three interim updates), mostly due to the riding feature being very strangely distributed and somewhat unbalanced (there are still only 17 water mounts compared to 20+ flying ones and 50+ land ones), so seeing 1.8 come out as half-baked even compared to 1.7 is bothering me. I really like the mod-- it's the most fun I've had with anything Pokemon in years and clearly has a lot of love and care put into it-- so seeing it start to suffer like this is irking me.

Hopefully the devs can get back on top of things and make a decent 1.9 instead of version-chasing a version nobody likes.

Another Minecraft semi-showcase, another LOD mod that focuses on performance. Ecstatic.
1788917843886.png
INB4 Thumbnail. No. Anyway, it's yet another LOD mod but according to the mod author it doesn't rape your performance because it only generates the surface rather than the entire chunk (that includes the parts you can't see). According to the mod page, since it generates only the surface you can expect to render a 144 chunk distance sometime between 4 minutes to a few seconds depending on your PC due to how it doesn't render the entire chunk. It is heavily WIP so some features don't work entirely, structure render has been retired until the mod author is satisfied with it (older versions than 1.4.0 have it), biome mods don't work at all and only terrain generation mods that don't add biomes work fully (Tectonic for example). And of course shaders don't work too well, I don't believe servers work entirely well with it, and some other stuff. It's great for vanilla and some lighter modpacks and he plans to add all the usual features you'd except from a lOD generator.
Interesting mod I saw called Shine (got it's "2.0" recently). Basically added a bunch of bloom to everything, seems to be configurable:

Some news on this mod, apparently I missed it but Shine was getting some hate due to how overly promoted it was, to the point of it being suspicious. Truthfully I never saw any of this nor any other drama, speaking of drama apparently the author stole textures and code from the Cosy Critters mod:

There's also accusations of unmentioned AI code (because Redditors seethe at that no matter how little the AI coded) and other stolen things which I don't know or care about. People recommend using the original Shimmer mod (which was abandoned until this drama came out and the mod author returned not long afterwards) Shine and honestly...this is aw gay sperging.

Yeah they're very slow and don't add a lot between each update, if anything most of their updates consist of things that other modders (like what you mentioned) can take advantage of.
Some of the remodels it adds look worse than the models they're replacing (Buneary is maybe the most obvious example, to the point that even the official discord wasn't sweet on it), and there are completed remodels and animations from almost a year ago still left unimplemented.
I believe there's a few remodel mods that haven't been updated that still look better and are relevant to this day. They're getting lazy which sucks, but at least their mod is highly moddable itself...

This is tranny behavior. Slow development, more teasing than a stripper, features little people care for (mostly other trannies), shoddy work, the whole nine yards. Also says to me that getting popular means they're getting lazy, and probably "too many chefs in the kitchen" on top of it.
I'm guessing there are too many cooks in the kitchen
Hah!

Same, it's never a good feeling to see something you greatly enjoy slowly...wouldn't say "enshittify" just yet so maybe "losing steam." It often times spells doom for the project if they can't get their shit together.
Hopefully the devs can get back on top of things and make a decent 1.9 instead of version-chasing a version nobody likes.
They will sadly, but not for a while. It would be retarded to jump to the newest update at this moment when this era's peak modding is in 1.20 and 1.21 (like how it was with 1.7.10 and 1.12).

A little off topic, but have you played with this? (Sorry if I missed it and you have). It's been a while since I've played but I just finally looked into Tectonic and it looks pretty cool. I'm lucky enough to have a pretty good PC so I'm not concerned about lag that I've seen some others talk about.
These kinds of worldgen mods have the problem where they’re balanced around taking pretty screenshots, they’re pretty awful to actually play in survival. Theres a reason everyone loves plains biomes, it’s nice to be able to build things without spending 10 hours flattening terrain.

Awful is a bit of an exaggeration, but I will concur that they're not as good for gameplay as they are for screenshots. Personally, I may as well be an actual masochist at this point because I enjoy the extra work it brings me. I've got a stick up my ass about terraforming, for some reason, so these biome mods force me to do some of that whether I'd like to or not and it really helps as a warm-up for actual building work. No clue if this'll work for others, but figured it might help if you're hesitant.

I mix Terralith, Tectonic, Alpine Whispers, and Blooming Nature. Incendium, too, but I'll have to give my opinions on that one later because I haven't tested it out yet. Would recommend against Biomes O' Plenty and/or Oh the Biomes You'll Go (or whatever it's called now) despite their popularity-- the former prefers quantity over quality and the latter has some really gross technicolor shit in it. I remember there being a gay beach in one of those two mods, but I can't remember which unfortunately.

Terralith and Tectonic do help to instill a sense of awe that works well with shaders. If you want to go on a big adventure with lots of cool mountains and interesting sights to see, I'd recommend them for that alone. If you just want to play some fucking Minecraft and don't care so much about the adventure part of Survival as much as you do the building, I'd recommend against it. (And also ask why you're playing Survival in the first place, only to bite my tongue as I quietly try to ignore the 80-block longhouse/mountain fortress I've been in the process of building.)

All of those are good points. I do love a very flat plains or meadow biome but can never find one, so I'd probably be miserable.

For fuck's sake I had all this typed up and I forgot to post it.
A little off topic, but have you played with this?
Tectonic is pretty damn dope, I much prefer it over most other terrain generators for general use, although Lithosphere is a very close second. If you want what's basically a reimagining of vanilla terrain gen, use Tectonic. Low biodiversity but low issues, and you can fix that with datapacks like Northbound since Tectonic is a very compatible terrain generator. Lithosphere (and the Still Life addon) is a bit more "all-encompassing" and but people work with the mod to add compatibility regardless, if you're looking for a more grounded (especially Still Life) yet has some pretty wild terrain gen, go for Lith. Be warned, it must have become bloated over time because it's much harder on performance these days compared to most other terrain gens.
modded is for niggers
@Hakase Shinonome I found a good candidate for your server.
Modders built this country game.

It's thanks to the Piston mod that you can shove an end rod into a sheep's ass.

If anything Vanilla is for you, especially the 1.8 update which added cooked chicken, melons and tall black men that steal blocks & fear water.
Horses too, the white man's choice of mount.
I never see anyone running both potions & enchants when the latter is easier accessible & permanent.
That's only for PVP, which is tranny territory. Besides, brewing is more for turning excess resources into more useful items and for fun.
Theres a reason everyone loves plains biomes, it’s nice to be able to build things without spending 10 hours flattening terrain.
Also helps when the terrain doesn't rape structures and vice versa.

People who call anyone who prefers old minecraft to new nostalgia blind never got past the 2016 hate phase methinks. They picked up the game right around 1.14 when the gameplay loop changed radically and Pewdiepie did lets plays that showcased the new stuff that felt like a heckin mod. Whenever people criticize the new stuff in favor of the Notch/pre-1.14 era they dismiss that stuff as unplayable garbage that cannot be enjoyed for any reason other than something irrational like nostalgia.
A lot of these people basically want the game to be Hytale, but when Hytale came out these niggas repurposed oldfag purist memes to make fun of the game and then it became SNCA after like a week.
BTW it doesn't matter what version of Minecraft we're talking about, half of what made 'craft was the community and the community is complete ass compared to 2013. The only gemmy modern mod of note is Create with everything else being out of place horror mods or boring vanilla+ shit. The youtube scene is ass outside of stuff like the civilization videos and escape rooms and whatnot, but there are no gems like "Villager News". The servers are digital pay2win casinos for cacas and are being increasingly rulecucked by Microslop's mandates. Most people play the game like Dream SMP speedrunners to the point that you're expected to enjoy Minecraft within a 2-week timeframe once a year, and people literally do closing ceremonies for their worlds. WorldEdit turned building into 3D modeling. Fuck any debates about hunger or the artstyle or the ender dragon, interacting with the game outside of singleplayer or with a good friend group is annoying as balls
