You'd think so, wouldn't you? Still, the person I spoke to seemed more amused / confused than anything else. They verified that the correspondence was fake, but didn't ask me anything about the identity of the sender. I guess I am trying to figure out whether the people finding was motivated by not being able to find even an email adress or facebook account (which is not entirely unreasonable) or because he had basic contact info and wanted more details to try to circumvent blocks (which is super creepy).

It would be useful to know which came first. I find it difficult to believe that Chris-Tran would pay Lego money on a People Finding service. It would certainly demonstrate the extent of Chris's desperation if he did.

I don't remember the actual dates off-hand. What I can tell you is that Chris obsession with finding his old gal pals was right around the same time he'd become obsessed with his HS reunion. He resorted to the "people finder" stuff after he couldn't reach the gal pals via Facebook.

He displayed his Lego MHS afterwards, probably hoping that people would see it, be suitably impressed, and people would start contacting him.

I think that after the big "Gal Pal Reveal" happened, Chris became more focused on / obsessed with Lego. Lego gave him a way to create his fantasy reality. It provided an escape from the "hurtful truth" and the "prickly wicklies" that accompanied it.

Yes he did. He also tried to enlist my help as "Rebeckah" to help him track down the gal pals. He wanted "Rebeckah" to "talk him up" , tell the gal pals what a wonderful person he was yadda... yadda... yadda.

I was going to save this exchange: it's one of the more interesting ween attempts and shows some real dedication.

The lawyer's office in question was legit, but they specialized in DUI and Personal Injury Law. I contacted them and they confirmed that they never sent the C & D letter (or the other correspondence). (The person I spoke to seemed oddly amused by the whole thing.)

The email is interesting because, during the time "Megan's Lawyer" was trying to troll Chris, another ween was pretending to be Megan at the same time (sort of a ween trolling ween thing).

Chris forwarded the correspondence to Rob Bell, who also confirmed it for a fake.

Any idea how much junk like this Chris gets in a week? It seems like an awful lot of effort to dig up the info, mock up the letters, and send it certified when for the most part he's probably just gonna chuck it. Oh, and spoof email addresses too so you can follow up.

The ween lucked out because they didn't leave a trail, and there was no damage to the firm or its reputation, so there was no point in going after the ween. My guess? The person who answered the phone did it. They had access to a steady supply of letterhead to keep the trolling going, and could answer the phone if a Chandler actually called the firm demanding an explanation.

He took it seriously, which is why he forwarded it to Rob Bell.

The definition of good vs bad trolling is in the eye of the beholder. One person might find something funny, someone else thinks it's stupidly lame. (Although just about everybody universally detests that sick fuck bluespike's stuff.)

Rammspieler's effort was fairly involved but is one of the better efforts , imo. It yielded some great footage of Barb and Chris which was badly needed to refute some ridiculous but persistent falsehoods. At the same time it was essentially harmless and non-invasive, and done with a light touch that respects human boundaries. And the pictures of WalMart and Goodwill were hilarious additions. Good job overall.

OK, so I found the one and only fake Megan email. Actually, there may very well have been more than one, but this is all Chris was willing to share.

I didn't bother to edit out "Megan's" email address, because this was back in 2013 and I'm sure the account has long since disappeared or become inactive.

It's not all that interesting, but I'm including it since it goes with the set.



This was one of the more troubling emails. Chris forwarded an email from a troll claiming to be Surfshack Tito (original eh?) who passed along the FB page info for Megan, her boyfriend, and her brother. The information has been redacted because the pages turned out to be legitimate.

Apparently, Chris couldn't access Megan's page because she'd anticipated him attempting to stalk her and blocked him preemptively. (I don't know how the troll knew this.)

I'm also not sure if this is the same person responsible for the other Megan-themed trolling attempts. This seems like it could be a possibility given the time period involved.
