Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

Speaking of sites obviously made for mobile, one trend I notice slowly picking up is how AWFUL using the desktop version of a site is compared to mobile. One bank I use is exactly that. The desktop version is broken with constant errors, and LOVES to log out randomly. A huge pain to navigate or anything banking related, since the design is so awful. Meanwhile, the mobile version is the exact opposite. I seriously hope this isn't the future for the web.

I hate the trend of compiling publicly available information, SEOing your website then charging a sum for it.

Rocketreach is an example. Oh you want to access this publicly available information? 40$ a month!
Pretty much every driver utility, etc.

I have a separate Chrome browser for interacting with banks and other official websites, because I can't trust them to employ non-retards or look past the majority user demographic. You can also force the layout to mobile on your desktop through web developer tools.

and when you use their made-for-mobile site on mobile it constantly nags to download the app.
HR worked very hard to source a Pajeet who would develop their application using an embedded browser, completely negating any benefits of native code and maintaining the same data harvesting practices, so you will use it.

Unhook, sponsorblock, return youtube dislike, hide youtube comments, ublock origin are your plugin 5-pack to youtube success. the return and hide ones do more than what their names say. you aren't the only one sick of banners saying that you need to listen to "black voices."

You're not alone, my bank does something similar. A lot of times when I attempt to log in on a desktop browser, something with the cookies messes up and it logs me back out. Tried Chrome and Firefox in Linux and windows and it does the same thing. I don't get random lockouts though it's always when I'm logging in that it messes up. Never does this on the mobile app.

Another example of that "YouTube Kids" thing: the video "Warhammer 40K Factions Portrayed by Spongebob - YouTube" had comments before, but now they're disabled. An ad for "Try YouTube Kids" is there instead, and "related" videos are now all little kid stuff.

I think there's definitely some algorithm that detects "kids content" and automatically disables comments on it now.

(also I hear at least one video by CWC got the same treatment)

Literally this, kek.
This is what happens when you need to make designs as easy to replicate as possible to fit the hellscape of different image formats required by social media and responsive websites.

or even simpler, use a 3rd party frontend to youtube that integrates these features and gives you a page that's easy on scripting and the CPU, like piped

I found this amusing project on /g/ called ddrive. So get this, the program that turns a discord server into a file sharing service and you can bypass the file limit function by fragmenting the file.
And someone setup a modified instance and using it to host various media (such as movies and shows), like what the fuck? :story:

They will do anything, absolutely anything, except not use that shit platform. Blows my fucking mind. Considering how viciously Discord bans anything that reeks of an alternative client (e.g. regularly changing up the internal APIs you need in order to post so that they can catch people who program against them), I'd expect them to ban users of this as soon as they get wind of it.

well it wouldnt be so if vendors didnt keep removing drivers to their older hardware from their websites. I have an old webcam that it;s producer pretends was never made in the first place, I can get it to work but all the utilities it came with are now gone from the internet, unless I dig up the CD that it came with (and find a computer witha CDROM ) I am not getting those sweet special effects

Aight though guy, know any good alternatives for a quick fire dopamine dispenser website
Just make another account bro
i have like 80+ all banned
As long as reddit accounts don't require emails, getting banned means nothing
go to r/freekarma4u to get enough updoots to post in your favourite subreddit (mine happens to be r/soylent)

That's certainly a new approach to Discord's primary purpose (sharing child pornography).

Back before Google Drive was a thing, there were a bunch of projects for doing this with GMail, with its then huge 1GB of free storage.

I blame touchscreen phone UIs.

Nowadays there’s pretty much no difference between a desktop site and a mobile site. Everything is surface level. Back in the day, website layouts and UIs had depth and didn’t just give you the three most used tasks in size 50 font, bold letters. Everything now feels like it’s made to be used by senior citizens.

Yeah, I remember something like that. I used GMail to transfer projects from work to home and vice versa, with corp upload speeds it was faster than copying it to a crummy USB 2.0 drive.
Google had a bug up its ass about anything that contained an executable and blocked it, even if it was in a zip/rar. The solution was to just remove the extension from the filename.
