Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
nah its one of the qol features thats kinda nice
It would not matter if I could *choose.* Let me disable and enable it in settings. You might even convince me to make an account for shitty websites.

That is one of the biggest pet peeves I have of all time. Why is modern design so allergic to the concept of just letting me fucking change shit to make my life easier? Why does everything have to be this forced fucking update? Why did youtube remove the ability to have custom backgrounds?

The internet has regressed to being all those shady ad websites from the 90s who's only purpose was to annoy you with ads.
Oh yeah, that BS from around 2000 when search results were filled with advertising crap. And then came the pop-ups.

It's a good thing people make ad blockers and make them free.

Google has become substantially worse in just the past few weeks. I tried to search for a specific malfunction of an appliance, their shitty AI forced results for an entirely different type of appliance. I gave up and tried to look for info on local repair places, even that was completely cocked up. I didn't even get a half dozen real results before they were throwing in random shit like pride month news articles.
What pisses me off about this is: there are always some retards who'll claim, "hurrhurr just add before:2020" as if google hasn't been making their algorithms worse since 2016 and completely hopeless after 2019.

Dear Internet,

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE A SCRIPT THAT HIDES PAJEET CONTENT.

It doesn't matter what I search or where I search for it I am literally flooded by Indian results and it is getting to the point where it can take several pages to find any content of value. (:_(
I’ve actually been wanting to make a thread on this phenomenon for a while now. It’s gotten so bad these past few years, particularly if you’re researching medicine, science, and philosophy (not gonna even mention the obvious cornering of tech since its been discussed here and is not my field of expertise). There’s far too many references to Ayurvedic medicine, which is localized pseudoscience that should have never left the Indian subcontinent. There’s also more and more Hindu nationalism popping up on websites like Quora, where half the answers to questions about anything under the sun are answered by Pajeets with dubious credentials.

What fucking sucks is that when you ask a specific question on Google, someone will have inevitably asked something similar on Quora, which Google will place at the top of the page. The most upvoted question (Quora operated like Reddit, it’s beyond retarded) will be up top, and it’s almost always a pajeet who probably got upvoted by bots or other pajeets.

I hate the modern internet so fucking much, man.

Closest thread is the Indian Menace thread over in the Thunderdome but that's more for poo hate in general. It could also be good potential for funny if either the search results are so bad they're entertaining.

No joke it is extremely difficult to do any sort of research now. A mere five years ago I could've skipped the sponsored ones from journoshills and found some pretty good sources a couple of pages in. Now it's just pajeet slop as far as the eye can see.

Yeah, part of the reason I haven’t made a thread is become of the existence of The Indian Menace, which last I looked had sporadically talked about this. Also I’m just really lazy.

I'm a damn retard because I keep falling for the thing that every site does now where you do the first 2-3 steps of a service and then when you get to the last step it says "oh by the way you need to create an account" etc. I don't bother anymore

Also how much total worldwide energy is spent every year just on verification emails? And emails letting you know you've been verified? Or emails letting you know that you signed into a device that you have already been signed into? If global warming is real, I blame that shit

Are people actively disabling embeds or does YT do this by default (via whatever categorization they use) now?
It's both. YouTube is also forcing people to log in to view videos as well. Plus their "prove you are not a bot and log in" prompt is happening more often. It's all just an excuse to harvest user data, serve more ads, and control as much of the internet as they can.

On Android-running "smartphones", there is a "Discover" feature that keeps updating the user with Current Year news. Disabling it can be hard to find, and it can reactivate itself. How do "normies" even stand using "smartphones" regularly and as a go-to way to access the 'net with all the endless annoyances such as ads, MSM propaganda, typing stuff with a touchscreen, and all on such a tiny screen?
