Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

I guess I'm too based for discord.

With Google being labelled a monopoly and the Ladybird browser being developed, I hope in 10 years we are finally free of Google's retarded stranglehold on the Internet.
Brave Search and DuckDuckGo are already on par with Google's search. Both are not great, but Google is awful. The only things left to replace are YouTube, which should be easy, and Gmail. Every other product Google makes gets shut down anyway.

Back in the day. I felt like duckduckgo was a lot worse.

Now days I think its as good or better. Brave is pretty decent too. Plus the ai suggestions are sometimes helpful. Depending what it is.

The AI feature is shockingly useful, but this is largely a case of Google sucking more than brave and duckduckgo getting better. I used to feel depraved using alternative search engines; now I don't even notice the difference.

Use Brave or Tor for browsing, use modified apks if you need to use social media apps, or use something like AdGuard (I'm saying "something like" because I haven't done research on how secure it is, it's just what I've heard of), that, as I understand, is a proxy that blocks ads on your whole phone.
MSM propaganda
Just don't read those. I don't recall being forced to on a smartphone.
typing stuff with a touchscreen
In some cases it can be faster than on a keyboard, with slide/swipe typing, when you need to send a quick message.
all on such a tiny screen
You get used to it. In case the site's dev didn't make a proper mobile version you just switch to desktop version in your browser. Smartphone screens also tend to get larger every year. If you want to, you can decrease interface and font size to fit more stuff.
The only real issue is misclicking, but that does sometimes happen with a mouse too. It's just more frequent.

Still don't like using "smartphone" as go-to way to access the 'net anyway. Just can't type faster on "smartphone" than on keyboard.

As for the MSM propaganda, "normies" using Android typically leave "Discover" on so they see MSM crap whenever seeing it. Dunno if iOS equivalent, but there probably is.

(I started using the 'net in the '90s and never really liked mobile phones.)

DDG results can still be "pozzed" to promote The Narrative™, and the algorithm can still be worse than the one of Google.
That's what I mean by duckduckgo is bad, but Google is worse. DuckDuckGo is awful and mostly the same stuff as Google, but Google is worse. Brave, on the other hand, sometimes sneaks in conservative sources and allows you to search by bias, so brave is better too. It's not that DuckDuckGo is good; it's that Google is bad.

Im so fucking sick and tired of moderator abuse no matter where you go. Even KF is guilty of it.
Preach.

Mods slapping you with 3 day bans on kf because you disturbed their precious thread with a joke. OnLy SiRiZ dIsCuSsIoN!
I didn't know why my programs won't recognize jpegs one day. Turns out windows stealth-changed my regs from jpeg to jfif fnr (supposedly so that all jpegs are now opened with Windows defaults) but this broke shit like explorer's thumbnails.

Some of these have probably been mentioned:

  • Cookie permissions
  • Chatbots
  • Pop ups offering me 15% off your shitty merch.
  • Browser “Allow notifications”
  • Google search
  • Google ads offering me stuff I’ve just fucking bought online.
  • Newspaper sites hyper monetising by overloading with ads.
  • Dark mode
  • American retard spelling
  • Wikipedia
  • Silicone Valley
  • X/Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Instafram
  • Alphabet
  • Meta

Bastard internet - I fucking hate it.

Pretty much any social media and what the modern news cycle is because of the internet. I don't feel like I can trust any website for either accurate and more importantly unbiased news or info. I also wish that I wasn't just information to be bought. And fucking cryptocurrency. It's created some of the most annoying people online I'm glad crypto people lose all their money fuck you.
