Frankly if they have those sorts of things, I just don't use the website (unless it's so poorly made it gets disabled by Ublock's element zapper).
Imagine if Xenforo signs a deal with an advertisement company to permanently enable it though. So if you upgrade to the next version of their forum you cannot disable the ad-block detection systems as they are built into the platform. It's becoming harder and harder to block elements of sites that are in those shadow layers as well. Things like the element picker (which isn't even properly implemented in the manifest version 3 of ublock) are often unable to interact with them as well.

The modern internet, and operating systems and computers in general (including game consoles), are all such shit.

Sometimes it is so easy to download a pic that the pic is automatically downloaded whether you like it or not. Other times the pic cannot be viewed by itself, right-click is disabled, and trying to download the pic does not work because of some "blank referrer blocking" or the like. Or the pic is a "WEBP" disguised as some other file format. BS.

I turned caching off, and yet Firefox is still writing gigabytes of data a day to the drive.

WTF is it writing and is there any way to turn that crap off? (and I use uBlock Origin too).
Create a RAM disk and relocate the browser cache there. It's very easy using a RAM disk software and the SoftPerfect Cache Relocator, but can be also done using the native mklink command-line tool.

Not a cache thing, it's this database made by Google that is part of the browser's resource files it uses to run.

Anyway thanks for the tip. Useful if I need to resort to using "Google Chrome", where caching cannot be disabled.

Has anybody else noticed that Youtubers and
articles even when it appears they are making genuine content are starting to overuse AI speech patterns without even realizing it? ("It's not X ー it's Y")

I think we are trapped within a death spiral.

AI aggregates web content to use for its answers -> AI becomes better than humans for SEO -> AI generated content propagates back to the very same AI systems -> AI regurgitates content but it is now 1488% more likely to condense it into a paragraph instead or generated articles that spend 20 fucking paragraphs on how to mute terminal bell sounds -> Everybody uses AI for everything -> AI speak bleeds into humans -> Everything talks like ChatGPT.

We're so fucked, we are living in the beggining phases of the second dark ages.
