Guessing most of the “we wuv womyn” donkey shit was mandated by WB, not NR.

It's Mortal Kombat, you can C-Section a female opponent, inject your shadow clone into her body and they crawl out of their mouth then splitting them like a tree trunk. It felt like an effectively placed smug jab.

Game still looks fun, but I’ll probably wait for GOTY edition like I usually do with NRS games. I’d prefer Ash Williams, Doomguy, Stryker, Barney the Dinosaur, etc to be on my disc instead of locked behind paywalls

I can understand that sentiment, but I'll probably pick it up on launch just because there will be tons of people playing online, and it'll be a bit more balanced. Seems like when I hop in late (with fighting games at least) I just get my ass mopped for weeks on end while I adjust to the game.

I’m a nigger and usually only get fighters for couchplay or single player (at least when it comes to Super Stink Bros, Arc games, and NRS games)

the first thing I'd do is finish the story before going into multiplayer... Don't know how long that may take because apparently this is one huge epic.

I'm not a fighting games person, so I just watch the cinematics on YouTube. The Injustice 2 one was 4.5 hours and was better than anything DC has done in live action. I'm guessing MK11 is going to be along those lines at least in length.

Everything changed when Shao Khan attacked.

That being said, currently there is a minor conspiracy being brought up about the women in the game wearing more clothing than the men. I don't know what games these people have played but that's been the case since the original game. I'm sure you'll eventually get to make some of the women as skimpy as possible due to the fact they want you to play characters in their old outfits as well.

Oh yeah, I noticed as much, but to be honest the only reason I didn't mention it is because bringing something up like that would be something The Quartering would rattle on about. It's nothing incredibly important, but it does feel like NetherRealm is trying to avoid controversy from the outrage mob for showing too much female skin. Remember kids, you can show a person getting their faces ripped off and their brains being eaten to thunderous applause, but if you show a bit of sideboob, you are a terrible pig-dog sexist and deserve to be stoned to death.

In some cases it makes sense (Sonya's MK9 costume for example was fucking ridiculous), but the Outworld characters, male and female, have always dressed like they've fallen out of a Frank Frazetta painting. I'm hoping there will be alternate costumes, more than just what was in the beta. I'm not expecting them to be all-out Frederick's of Hollywood like they were in MK9, but something more akin to their original costumes would be appreciated.

They did give an article to Polygon where they said some of the old outfits were disrespectful, and fighting in a bikini isn't practical. Which might be true, but somewhat ignores the fact most of the men are incredibly ripped and often fight topless.

I'm curious as to what horror movie characters are going to be the DLC guest fighters in this one.

We've already had Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Alien, and Predator, so what's next?

My guess would probably be either Pinhead or Ash Williams (depending if Bruce Campbell is willing to do the voice work, as he retired the live-action Ash character last year) although I wouldn't rule out Michael Myers either.

Eh, in a Martial Arts capacity fighting in a bikini is probably one of the better ways to fight depending on the suit. No restriction. Unlike being bulked which makes it more difficult to be limber and manipulate the battle.

That said realism is boring and so is being respectful. Fuck that noise; bring on the tits, abs and ass.

Semi-off topic, but I've been reading up on the short-lived phenomenon of "Mortal Kombat Clones" that were a thing in the mid-90's.

Mortal Kombat's success naturally pioneered a whole wave of cheap low-budget fighting games whose main (and sometimes only) marketing gimmick was ultra-violence and gore,

Probably the most famous of these games was Thrill Kill, known for its blend of MK-style violence with BDSM themes and Satanic imagery as well as being the first non-pornographic game to receive the "Adults Only" rating from the ESRB, which resulted in the already completed game being cancelled and unreleased once Electronic Arts bought the studio that developed it.

Because of its unreleased yet complete nature combined with the pre-cancellation controversy and mystique surrounding it, Thrill Kill was very popular among the emulation community and is still a very popular pirated game.

However, Thrill Kill was actually one of the very last MK Clones that were made during the craze and was originally slated to be a PS1 title and skip arcades entirely.

Most of the MK clones were fairly forgettable and some of them were even made in-house at Midway by their subsidiary studios (most notably Bio Freaks and the dinosaur-themed Primal Rage)

The only really notable MK Clones that stand out were Kasumi Ninja (because of how god-awful it was), Thrill Kill (for its controversy and cult status), and Primal Rage (namely because the characters were all dinosaurs and it actually got a sequel) although I will admit that I am a sucker for Time Killers, which was fairly decent despite its low budget. Granted, that may be the nostalgia talking (as a little kid with an interest in history and time travel, I loved Time Killers and played the fuck out of it at the local pizza parlor)

Also, I'm wondering what all was covered when Warner Brothers bought out Midway, because I would love to see a remake of Primal Rage (and maybe CarnEvil while we're at it!)

That's BillyD's work, he is a major pro-GG lolcow that sadly isn't getting any real coverage here compared to his anti-GG counterparts.

Spawn has been teased since MKX,but who knows if he will make it this time.

Just checked Steam, the preorder prices on this are nightmarish.

Still want it, but DAMN it's pricey.
My plan is to wait two years when they work most of the bugs out of the game and all the preorder/monetized content is rolled into Mortal Kombat 11 Sorrynotsorry We Bled the Early Adopters Dry edition.

I never, EVER buy a game opening day. The last time I made that mistake was Mass Effect 3.

I'm still holding out hope for Pentagon jr

New Character alert: Kollector

I'm sure he'll have his own lore and backstory and his species will have an equally in-depth lore to them as well. Until then, I'm going to just call him Goro's meth-head stabby cousin that lives in the Outworld trailer park and spends his days stealing bug zappers.

He looks like he could be a hoot. Plus fuck yeah the background music.

I really like the idea of him being Shao Kahn's tax man/mob enforcer.

He also manages to fight in a unique way that is very different from the usual quad-armed fare we see from NRS.

I love how his fatality is basically like a child rummaging through a toybox, throwing the ones he isn't looking for aside.
