I was dumbfounded when the klassic stages from MK Deception didn't make it into Armageddon. No Pit, no Portal, no Dead Pool, no Courtyard. Come on, those were easy nostalgia points missed.
Really, if Netherrealms studios want to take another crack at that era of MK games (4, DA, Deception), I wouldn't mind it. They'll have to bring back the elevated sex appeal, though, that's part of the formula - feels like a challenge these days. Anyways: MK4 felt unfinished and graphically, it didn't age well, everyone looks like toys. DA was missing some extra depth, and a proper konquest mode. I wasn't a fan of them making it so commands for uppercuts, roundhouses, etc. weren't universally the same for every character at the time.
Deception was the peak of that era, but I'm still not a big fan of the fighting system from this era. MK 2011 was just so much smoother and faster that it's hard for me to stick with Deception/DA for long periods. Shaolin Monks was my shit for a while until I beat it and realized there's hardly any post-game kontent. You beat it and you're basically done.
