Doesn’t help he got called the second most ugly character in an official magazine. Lost to wario but it still hurt. He also is a very common unit to pull in heroes so most hate the oversaturation there. He’s still great, for one, he’s the only father of a protagonist to survive the whole game. You’ve gotta admit for as long as war takes, and he still keeps holding his coof together to see his son alive is really impressive.

It amazes me how much people (Tumblr) Hate Minoru Mineta for the simple fact that he's a pervert as if they've never watched another anime before. It may be likely that this is their first anime because Mineta in some ways reminds me of Ataru Moroboshi in some ways. I imagine Tumblr would have a shitfit if they ever watched Urusei Yatsura.

I believe you are right about what makes some people hate this smug brat. It reminds me of an episode where Riker has to deal with an insufferable alternate version of himself that has his worst traits from his younger days. It's pointed out by another character that he only hates the other Riker because he sees too much of what he hates about himself in him. It's hard to be forced to look into a mirror that doesn't show you exactly what you want to see.

I read they added Wesley Crusher to appeal to younger fans. Yet I don't remember anyone thinking he was cool. Wasn't Wesley the only character not to be affected by that super addictive video game that plagued the Enterprise? Now that I think about it... Sounds like a poorly done "Hey kids, don't play so much Nintendo!" PSA.

They eventually did away with Wesley in a really stupid way. Didn't he become like warp drive Jesus or something? Oh well. At least he was gone. Not sure if he was in the last episode.

Thing is, even if Wesley wasn't horribly misconceived and awkwardly written, adults often forget that kids rarely want to be like kid characters. They want to be like the cool adult characters.

Kids loved Han Solo, Princess Leia and Darth Vader, but there probably weren't many little boys who wanted to be Anakin from the Prequels. (Even Jar Jar was more popular)

I didn't even know anyone hated her. I'm not even the biggest fan of 3, but I always thought her and the Lone Wanderer had great chemistry. During the Survival Guide quest she's super peppy and the PC is super sarcastic, it's great.

Jar Jar Binks and Scrappy Doo are probably the most obvious examples to the point even the most "normie" of mainstream people know about it. Shinji Ikari gets a lot of hate but not quite to the same level he did back in the day.

IIRC, Brad Vickers got a lot of hate from the earliest Resident Evil fans on both sides of the Pacific.

I'm surprised no South Park characters have made it to this thread, because the show's audience as a huge tendency of a-logging online if given a chance (such in videos, forums and anywhere where comments can be posted), and they're very open about it.

There are several characters that could easily apply for this thread - such as Eric Cartman, because he single-handedly divides the fanbase (despite being the essence of the show), or Randy Marsh, who is not starting to get on everyone's nerves as a result of overexposure (his Tegridy Farms plot has been extended for two seasons now) - but I think the character that causes the most slapfights online is Wendy Testaburger.

In earlier seasons people mostly hated her because of "shipping" (aka, fujoshis mad their boy toy Stan was dating Wendy and not Kyle), but once Wendy's character took a more politically-explicit turn (she's a full-leftist feminist who hogs most of her screentime by preaching over something politics-related, and will not take a "no" for an answer) people outside of fandom/shipping began getting seriously annoyed with her as well.

Her "stans" are no better, though, defending her mostly because she is "a feminist", "the only voice of reason in the show" or "you just hate her became she's a female character" - very standard fandom stuff, but coming from South Park it can get quite humorous -, not to mention that Wendy's fans have also a very unhealthy obsession with her and will parade it online as much as her A-logs will parade their despise for her in the same manner. We even had one in the Farms a couple years ago!

Personally, I don't like her either, but the bitchfights she causes are hilarious to watch from the sidelines.​

I've seen Harold from Twin Peaks get a lot of a-logging by fans of the series. At best, he's seen as an overly sensitive, effeminate but well intentioned guy. Most fans see him as a creepy weirdo just trying to perv on Laura and Donna by playing up his "I'm such a sensitive nice guy" persona.

I was feeling nostalgic recently and started rewatching the Tenchi Muyo animes, which reminded me that back in the day there was one character that, if not a-logged, certainly received a lot of spite from fans in online forums.

Princess Ayeka Jurai, one of the main cast members, and one of the two main love interests of the title character Tenchi Masaki. I suspect that's what fueled most of the dislike - shippers that didn't like competition for preferred pairing. I'm fully on #TeamRyoko for what it's worth

The problem for me is that in a number of online discussions people were always describing her as arrogant, snooty, obsessive, spoiled, and manipulative - in some fanfics, she was even made out to be a full on villain. But if you watch the series, none of that actually holds true about her character.

Yes, she can be a little overly formal, but she never acts dismissive or like she's above anyone else. Indeed in both the original OVA's and the TV series, this alien princess who's the first in line heir to a galactic superpower acts very humble and grateful towards the hospitality that has been shown to her by a commoner on an undeveloped backwater planet (Earth) , often volunteering to help around the household, and even developing genuine romantic feelings for said commoner. Plus, the relationship she has with her little sister Sasami is so unbelievably sweet it will give you diabetes.

I'm sure Azula from ATLA a-logging very well in the series searching of this father's approvation and keep Zuko off of the throne near every chance she had.
But my knowledge about cartoons/anime are limited but i can thinking of someone in the Yakuza series and that was Shindo, right-hand of the Nishikiyama family. Probably in the first game he was a thug and in the second game he betrayed Tojo Clan only for not seeing MILF pussy but in either way he was a crazy damned man.

Azula is actually a pretty popular character now since most view her as complex and, at some level, a victim. She was hated back in the day but most of the kids watching are now grown up and seem to view her as relatable.

Dave from Total Drama's Pahkitew Island comes to minds in terms of a-logging. Granted though, the writing for that season, along with the other later Total Drama seasons, fell off of a cliff. His character first starts off as a massive simp for Sky, to no avail, and then all of the things that happened with him in the ending of that season.

Although, I'm not sure if that counts as actual a-logging, because it comes off more that the writers dislike Dave, and writing him in that manner. Ezekiel from the original Total Drama Island also got similar treatment by the writers, namely the Feral Zeke parts, but IIRC, the fan base felt bad for him, not to mention he was already the writers' punching bag by being the obligatory "guy who gets voted off first" person.

Megan from Drake and Josh was pretty a-logged but like...again it's not exactly irrational.

Surprisingly enough, Manami Okuda from Assassination Classroom is pretty a-logged. Now, why does this cute little sciency wallflower get a-logged, you might ask?

Because when you look into the AC fandom, at least on tumblr, 90% of it is people shipping Karma and Nagisa because of course. There is actually very little romance in AC but Okuda is the girl closest to Karma, and when given the choice of girls in the class he outright picks her. They usually partner up on things and she has defended him to the other girls in class. Because she's the obvious object of Karma's evil hetero affection, she's bad.

Manami did nothing wrong.

Pretty obscure but Isabelle Triznine from "The Great Mage Returns After 4000 years."

I have no idea why, but for some reason, people just rip into her in almost any place I see this manhwa being discussed. My only guess is it's because she's not a Mary Sue character early on in the story which pisses off some of the people who want a strong wamen character. Personally, I think she's actually a pretty well-written character because she starts out pretty immature, and unconfident, which makes sense as early on in the story she's basically just a slightly above average magic student with almost no combat training, but then develops into a reliable supporting character for the MC.
