Most Frustrating Boss Battles

The final boss(es) from Yakuza 4. Because you're fighting each boss as a different character, you have to make sure that you stock up on healing items for all the characters, since they don't share items. Not only that, but the 2nd boss spams his strongest attack over and over, which makes fighting him tedious. The worst part is the last boss. He hangs back while his guards attack you and while they're doing that, he shoots you, which breaks your attack and leaves you open for a beating. As it turns out, you need a bullet-proof vest before the fight. They never tell you this...

White Glint Mk. 9 from Armored Core: Verdict Day. Despite being some crude copy of White Glint, White Glint Mark 9 is a tough boss since he has two forms, both of which spams the missles. The first form has a shield that prevents any damage when you try to shoot him, accompanied by that is huge blast of energy that can do serious damage even if you play as a heavyweight or a tank. The second form ditches the shield and huge blast, trading it for constant movement and a huge area of effect type of damage that slowly chips away your health. Took me many attempts to beat him.

Four Kings from Dark Souls is a complete exercise in frustration when you fight in New Game + and beyond. That is all.

Gym Leader Whitney in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver makes me rage. The only way to defeat her is with a female fighting type Pokemon. AND THEN SHE HAS THE GALL TO NOT WANT TO GIVE YOU THE GYM BADGE WHEN YOU DEFEAT HER.

Where are your Poke-gods NOW?!?

Anyway, I don't know what it is, but the Fury from MGS3 has always gave me trouble when I fought him. He's not THAT difficult. But his flames do a TON of damage, and he can easily get the drop on you if you're not careful.

Capra Demon from Dark Souls also gave me quite a bit of trouble. Hell, most of the bosses in that game gave me trouble. Old Capra always stuck in my mind though.

The Bloat in The Binding of Isaac is also a piece of shit, shoots you immediately when you enter the room if the entrance wasn't from the top. At least the boss screen is nice enough to tell you you're fighting it so you have time to hold down the move button immediately. ??? is annoying with all them angels around the end too.

Yeah that and the damned Mask Of Infamy. It's not a terribly hard boss. It's just the hardest one to hit (at least the second phase). You can only hit it from the back and it moves fast and turns around to come straight after you if you get too close.

Also, as others have said, the Boost Guardian is a huge pain in the butt. Then again nearly everything in Prime 2 is a pain in the butt. That game was amazing but it could get pretty punishing. I also remember the last boss being hard too.

Another one for me isn't really a boss but I count it as one. It's in God of War 2 where you have to protect the second translator from a ton of monsters. Play that part on Titan Mode and you'll put the controller through the screen. I've probably put about 6 hours into just that part on titan mode and no dice. My friends thought it was hilarious but I was about ready to pile drive my PSdouble into oblivion. I had to just man up and realize sometimes I just can't beat something. :(

Jasper Batt Jr from No More Heroes 2 is frustrating in every way possible. His boss fight is long and completely nerve wrecking. 3 whole phases to the fight, and each one of them is full of him using cheap moves and him taunting you with with his annoying whiney voice. And he's such a dissapointing final boss to such an awesome game. That's what sucks most about him, he just sucks. The entire game is full of bosses with entertaining personalities and fun battles, but Jasper is just annoying and difficult. And it's kinda stupid that his backstory is based on a completely optional side quest from the first game.

The second stage of the Rebel flagship in FTL. That drone burst is one the most absolutely annoying things ever.

Do we already have an escort mission thread? Because I just found discovered one that's more frustrating than any boss fight I've been in, gah.

Also with mini-bosses, the first time I ever fought a Patriot.

Harkon also gave me trouble in the Dawnguard DLC, also the first time I fought him. I didn't have a good handle on my vampire lord powers, which was related.
It was mostly the gargoyles and shit, but still.

Also, Dragon Priests. Except that one near the end of the main quest.

Dark Souls again. This time it's the Four Kings; magical once-human monstrosities found in the flooded ruins of New Londo.

Basically, you have to be super aggressive and get each King's health down fast because of how quickly they spawn. It starts out with one popping up, but every thirty seconds or so, another one spawns, and this keeps on until their collective health is whittled down. Each King isn't a particularly tough opponent, but trying to keep track of all four at once is nigh-impossible, and their AI is pretty relentless. Also, the NPC summon for that fight only appears if you summoned her for a previous boss fight, and even if you can summon her, she tends to get stuck at the top of the staircase into the boss room firing magic at an enemy she's incapable of damaging. Even if you can get her into the boss room, she's mostly only good as a meat shield.

Also, they put the fight in the Abyss, which is pitch black and devoid of all landmarks unless someone left a message there. Seriously, it's impossible to gauge how far a King is from you until you bump into the fucker, or more commonly, his sword bumps you. Speaking of the swords, all their attacks are purely magic-based, which isn't immediately obvious and makes it difficult to defend against unless you're kitted out with the right gear.

Considering how Dark Souls II is coming next month, I honestly hope From Software does not make a successor to the Four Kings Unless this successor is like how the Belfry Gargoyles are a successor to the Maneater's from Demon's Souls: Not too tough to solo, and the reinforcements aren't at full health. Speaking of the Belfry Gargoyle's, I like to say the Maneater's from Demon's Souls are also frustrating. You have an area where they can knock you down to your death, an aggressive attack pattern (charge, homing magic, and a magic missle attack)a buff that can make them deadly, and you have to deal with the second one once the first one is at half health or you spend too much time with the first one and since it's Demon's Souls, you can't upgrade armor unlike weapons and shields, plus New Game + makes them too much to solo.(Thank God that From Software did not patch the fog-gate bug, I know I'm being a scrub for saying that but to hell with it all, I hate the Maneater's and anyone who thinks they are the best boss has to be the biggest masochist of gamers.)

Still on the topic of Dark Souls, I'm disappointed to hear that Gravelord Nito isn't that hard. You guys know how that is, right? When you see a badass-looking boss and think the fight is going to be a fun challenge, but then it's easy as hell? But maybe when (or I should say 'if') I eventually get to him, he might actually be hard for me since I'm fucking terrible at this game. :p

I actually really like the Nito fight. It's not super fucking hard like Ornstein and Smough or the Four Kings, but he's not a complete pushover like Pinwheel or the Gaping Dragon.

Yeah, he has skeleton's to back him up, all of whom can come back unless you have a divine weapon. Top that with some giant skeletons and the fact that Nito has a sword attack that rises from the ground when you hear a scream, Nito isn't exactly a push-over.

It's been a while since I've played Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, but now I remember Gyorg as being just horrible. That whole water temple pissed me off, including the mini-boss, but the only way to kill Gyorg was to keep on electrifying him. And you only have so much magic to use unless you drink the unlimited-magic milk.

It's more fun if you do it without killing the skeletons. Stay in the area you start in so you don't aggro the giant skeletons, and it's a pretty intense fight.

The skeletons are never even an issue for me. Nito keeps doing his AoE move that kills them. They resurrect, but they can't even hit me before he kills them again.

I hated Gyorg. I would always have to leave the temple after I found all the fairies so I could go to the Great Fairy Fountain and get the extended life meter before going into that boss battle. And come to think of it, I love me the hell out of Majora's mask but the last two temples (Great Bay and Stone Tower) were a real pain in the ass.

I personally liked Stone Tower Temple. The mechanic of turning the temple upside-down was interesting and the temple itself was nice and eerie. That twin worm boss isn't really hard since you get the Giant's mask. Just hack away!
