Most people are babies who can’t live without A/C

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
These units are great for convenience as you don't need an installer. They can never beat a properly installed split AC tho. What you save in price you burn for power.
Solar power, fren. Yes, this means eating the bugs installing the smart meter, but you're getting one over on TPTB as (a) you can run your box AC as much as you like on a stinking hot day for free and (b) those fuckers can't shut it down. :smug:

Get a battery unit as well. If the power grid should go down for whatever reason you'll have the ability to run most of your stuff for a day or two.
That's on the to-do list.

As an added bonus, I'd sticking it even further to The Man by running my box a/c units 24/7 for free if I wanted to. Mwahahahahaha!!

I think smart meters will become the (forced) norm. You can't avoid them.

Ceiling fans do nothing about humidity. You can actually start growing mold in certain environments.

Either way I spend my days fixing them, which means being in places where they aren’t currently running, outside, on top of roofs, and sometimes attics.

My house stays a cozy 76° and 55% humidy with my 19 SEER variable speed heat pump system.

what is this fad with people acting like not using A/C is some kind of ultimate flex. congratulations, you have the constitution of a field nigger. it's unironically good that you're saving money on electricity but like, why do you want a cookie for it? does the heat drive you to act like an attention-seeking faggot?
It’s not a fad. It’s literally the majority of the population being superior to you. Congratulations, you’re on the left side of the bell curve for heat tolerance. Natural selection was supposed to kill you if not for the aberrancy of man.
I don't really have an argument here - I can't fucking stand heat and humidity and will gladly fork over some extra money to my absolute joke of an electric company in order to not spend the day stewing in my own sweat. On the flipside though, I don't even start to get uncomfortable until the indoor temperature starts dipping below 60 or the outdoor temperature goes below 30.

Also posting this to dunk on the faggy yuropoors that swarm to this topic like flies to shit every time it comes up:

You sound fat.
Define "can't live"?

On one hand, I can sleep outside in hot, humid, bug-ridden bullshit and will do that shit when necessary - but if I'm paying rent/mortgage/power bill/hotel room, I better have some AC and sleep cozy.
Yeah, I can do it, but would I choose to do it over a preferable option? No.

On the other hand, Bongs and other northern Euros literally fucking dying of heatstroke at 74F will never not be humorous to me.
The issue is how much you’re willing to pay for vs. what your body is actually happy with (compared to your mind).
Try living in the deep south during July/August and attempt to keep that same attitude.
Okay sure you have me there. Whenever I go to Asia I have to use the A/C nearly all the time. It’s super humid. Even when it’s colder (it’s never really ‘cold’) I use the dry mode instead of the heater (I’m not even sure if our mini-split has a heat mode).
TLDR: Op is afraid of technology he can't understand
Did you miss the part on me telling people to understand HVAC theory?
I spend about 20 bucks a month more in the hot/cold season so that that the house I live in is comfortable.

I'd never poor shame, but time is money. How much time are you wasting regulating you environment? Instead of you know, trying to shave that 20 bucks off your electric bill and still being less comfortable?
Practically nothing because I have everything automated. I even use motion sensors and thermometers to control ceiling fans. The only thing not automated is opening the windows, filter changes, and reversing the fans twice a year.
And the stupidest ones brag about heat tolerance instead of inventing air conditioning.
Congrats, you cannot evolve past a mud hut.

You are compensating for lack of cool air with increased airflow. It will work to a point if humidity is low.
But overall, it is stupid. Modern inverter split AC's burn less power than a big ceiling fan and running costs are in 1-2USD/Unit/Day range. Price for a cheap split is same as for a big ceiling fan.
And good luck getting some sleep with open windows during night and niggers blasting music, cars and other abos doing their shenanigans with their riced up vehicles.
People have to work and good luck doing anything with lack of sleep which will kill you faster than heat will.
Waaaah people are noisy! Shut the fuck up retard. Move out of the ghetto. Or buy earplugs. Or maybe just stop being a pussy and learn to sleep with noise. You know your grandpa slept in a trench while literal guns and bombs were going off?

Some people have work to do.
Do you know there are people who do work outside in direct sun light?

If you want a good laugh go look at the "frugal" community. Theres penny pinching, and then there's what they do. Washing dishes while they shower, scraping uneaten ketchup off fries back into the bottle, etc. I'm getting the same energy here.

Yeah and now he's dead and before that he was half deaf. There is no reward in suffering.
And I'm willing to bet if he could have spent 1,000 dollars to NOT do that he would have. If you are not spending your money to make you and your family comfortable and happy, what good is it?

It is ironic that everything he saved up was wiped out in a bank run. Entire life's pension savings wiped out over night and he had to go back to work from retirement.
Spending 1k is just piss in the wind comparing to life quality improvement. That's less than 100USD a month, something people waste away on smokes and subscriptions.

I'm confused, context?

You could retire based on your savings alone before "Public" pensions was the norm.
He saved every cent he could, lived frugally all that so someone else could run away with his money.

I'll take the L on this. I have no idea what you are talking about. You talking about his previous posts, or his profile?

They can't do that if you have a box aircon plugged into a standard 10A or 15A wall socket.
If you have a smart meter they can or they can at least tell when you're using one and they'll probably start tacking on some kind of environmental fee when your usage patterns match up to problematic things like portable and window a/c units.
