Most Toxic Online Game Communities - Hate the Players, eventually hate the game.

The more they try to control/moderate the player the worse the fan base gets and that goes for internet forums too.
R6 and reddit has some of the worst drooling retards this planet has ever seen. Even tough the game is heavily modrated not allowing any kind of slur or slur adjacent word or you get a ban (I got banned for typging nibba once) Same with reddit. You get banned for even having a slightly edgy opinion. Meaning that all form of creative tought his heavily montiored and censored.
But the retards have become experts in abusing the blindspots of the moderation tools making it a hell of a lot worse. Well i cant banter in chat with this guy anymore so ill just make sure he will accidentallykill me by walking in to his line of fire or in to his nade. Triggering the return fire mechanic killing him instead and you cant remove them anymore since r6 removed the ablilty to kick people from your game cause people on reddit complained that sometimes they get kicked and thats unfair and it doesnt get better as you climb the ranks. bronze 5 or plat 1 dosent matter.
While csgo that has bascily nonexistant moderation, isnt that bad even in europe. The worst you get is some ruski that refuses to turn off his mic or speak english. You get called the nword and you call him a slavtrash right back. If hes a complete retard you kick him and find a new random.
Same on 4chan or KF you get called a retard or get a bad sticker but someone will not remove your post for wrongthink. They will instead break down your argument and call you a slur.
Game devs need to let comunites police themselves by giving them a kick tool and the ability to call someone who is trash trash. To either improve and get a clue or gtfo. Like the human race has done for thousnads of years at this point.
Been a while since i played r6, I was one of those dudes that ran into friendly crossfire to get people kicked. Love standing near explosives too. But yeah, I agree with you. The more hard they are on "toxic" behaviour the more toxic it becomes, coz assholes like me love to abuse the "anti-griefing" mechanisms to grief even harder than previously possible. Game developers are not players, this is why they always implement short-sighted solutions.

The one thing that pissed me off in R6 was there was always that one dumbass that runs in between you and an enemy both you and they knew was there but decided to run into crossfire anyway. The reward was getting friendly head shot 4/5 times.

I haven't touched R6 since and seeing how Ubisoft is treating actions like this, I don't know if I should return.

Almost any FPS game - pretty much any community will be better by the virtue of not being an FPS.

My opinion is that, even if takes skill and hard work to be "good" at an FPS (e.x. Esports such as Counter-Strike) - the bare minimum threshold to play an FPS is so low that sheltered 13-year old kids who can't devote more than 5 seconds of attention to something will still get something out of it just by "spraying and praying". (Some of the same might be the case with fighting games as well, but I haven't played them online very often).

In comparison, the bare minimum required to play a game such as a driving or golf simulator, or RTS game and get a sense of "reward" is higher - even if you still suck at it compared to pro players, you'll still have to devote more attention than just spamming a shoot button in order to get through a multiplayer match.

On any message board for FPS games, you'll find way more noobs crying "OP/hacker/ban this!" and silly stuff like that than you will for the genres of games I described above.

In Diablo 3, I'd join hardcore games with tanky no damage build, then round up as many monsters as possible to dunk on the host to delete his character.
At least with this example you were minor risking yourself too, so mild respect there. How often did the target survive with the various "You survive once" talents or legendaries?

FFXIV was the second game that I quit, after modern day Old School Runescape, because the community gave me a sick feeling.

Old School Runescape is filled with autistic loser manchildren, constantly comparing their in-game grinding e-peens, bragging about how long they've sat in their chair without washing themselves, and obnoxiously one-upping anything you are doing or enjoying. There's literally no one else that plays that game. It was really unpleasant and made me feel sad. You can't bond with anyone or make friends because you don't feel safe sharing any information about yourself, since these stinky fucks won't benefit you in any way. I was really disappointed by the community because I loved OSRS as a teen and I wanted to enjoy it for nostalgia's sake. I am not even going into the problems that the company Jagex has, like the constant hacking and security problems, including their own admins hacking players from the back-end.

FFXIV meanwhile is filled with perverted loser manchildren, who dress their female character in the skimpiest maid outfit possible, run around acting "sexy" in public, and flirt with other perverted loser manchildren posing as females. There are TONS of trannies and tranny "LGBT" FCs (guilds). If you're ever in a voice chat, you can hear the degeneracy in the voices of these people. The actual women™ that play the game are strange, and unpleasant. They're the kind of older (35+) women that want to be worshipped by a bunch of NEETs that play the game, and act as their queen. They are very unfriendly to other women unless they are servile to them.

General chat was spammed with perverted shit or tranny shit. You can't escape it. I confused the hell out of my friend when I suddenly gave him all my in-game currency and quit. I was so uncomfortable, and I had a really hard time getting him to understand the problems with the atmosphere in that game. Too much degeneracy and hug-boxing of perverts. The character designs and costumes themselves are made to appeal to dirty coomers, which should have clued me into the game not being for me. I couldn't take the cutscenes seriously because so many npcs were dressed as Asian-styled strippers, and sexual assault/harassment of female npcs by things like clockwork robots in the cutscenes was played off as a funny, normal thing. I felt like I was in some weird anime porno. I wouldn't want to be friends with 95% of the people who I met in that game.
Weird how Warcraft kinda comes out ahead. I think a healthy contempt for Blizzard helps.

Back then, monsters were so much stronger than players, and practically no-one had legendries. There were no survivors.

probably the factions thing, FFXIV and OSR have that "everyone for himself" thing, obviously you can't be a troon waving your e-benis on OSR because A - a troon hardly has a functioning dick, B - some other retard manchild will try to oust you for that.

Is ally body blocking a thing in R6 too? It would suck if you get killed because a dumbass teammate decided to block your way of escape.

CS:GO have a cringy community full of try hards that ree if you want to play casually.
This is totally true, but CS:GO has something a lot of games don't these days - a server browser, along with custom game modes. e.g. if you want surf, you can find surf servers, if you want to 1v1, you can find servers that do tournament 1v1 24 hours a day, etc. Have an idea for a new mode? Make it yourself!

The current trend in games is to not have custom community servers - you just click a game developer approved mode and some bullshit matchmaking happens. In developer-approved game mode, you win exactly 50% of your games and lose exactly 50% of your games, all in accordance with our lord and savior SBMM, which increases player engagement.

back then the cheat death passive skills didn't have an animation, with so many monsters on top of them there was little escape and difficult to notice the skill trigger. Remember this was vanilla D3 where they tried to conservatively clear an area, not like now where you press 1 button and the whole room is deleted.

People have unsurprisingly mentioned Dota, but honestly people using "toxic" language isn't really the biggest problem with the community, it's smurfs and boosed/bought accounts.
A whole lot of players don't play at the matchmaking rating they belong in, back when I played it felt like you met one of these players in every two or three games and it was a miserable fucking experience, and from what I heard the problem only got worse in recent times.

Bad players have to deal with much better players creating a smurf account, either to climb through the ranks and sell it or just for the fun of stomping worse players.
It really sucks for the losing team, but it's also not fun for the other four players on the winning side since they don't really get to play the game while he single-handedly stomps the enemy team.

Good players have to deal with account buyers. Players who think they are too good for the rating and and their teammates are only thing holding them back from climbing the ranks, so they buy a high-rank account or pay some third-worlder to win games for them for 0.5 dollars an hour. Of course there's a reason that after 2000 hours of ranked they're still stuck playing with new players and other shitters like them, and once these retards get their hands on the new/freshly boosted account they start losing 90% of their games, and quickly drop to their actual rating while completely ruining the game for their teammates on their way down.
The Account Buyer then, humbled by this experience, learns to stop blaming others for his own shortcomings and starts playing the game with a newfound outlook on life, and finally starts improving both as a Dota players and as a person. Just kidding, he just buys another account and starts the cycle all over again.

And god forbid you're playing at an average rating, then you meet all the smurfs on their way up and all the account buyers on their way down.

Haven't played in 2 years and got curious about the state of things, thanks for letting me know its worse than it actually is now.

Esports ruined Siege unironically because everything was now being balanced to appease whiny "pro" players while having total disregard for the rest of the playerbase and the fun got sucked out thanks to dumb balancing updates, broken operators, and recycling content.

It went from being a decent unique shooter that felt reasonably believable to another boring overwatch clone full of operators looking like they're doing Cyberpunk cosplays instead of actual military or police operatives.

One more thing to add on: r/rainbow6 was probably the worst subreddit I ever fucking browsed.

fwiw it highly depends on server and cluster. I had never an issue in ff14 being yuropoor and was smart enough to not start on a meme shard.

because progression and monetization is directly tied to where and how you play. valve (unless they changed it) it's more or less "play the game how you want, get drops, we don't care".

Path of Exile the whole game has become a mess and I blame the studio GGG and the community. The community has become a rat race of finding the newest broken skill and abusing it before GGG nerfs it into the ground and unintentionally kills several other skills or even entire concepts (RIP off hand stat sticks). So even if you don't play the new flavor of the month there is a good chance you'll still get punished.
Streamers have amassed huge audiences that will copy their builds leading to some non-op skills getting nerfed just because they were popular.
Trading is a shit show with half of all listing being from assholes price fixing and the other half being bots, if your trying to sell something and don't respond to an offer within 3 seconds they'll move on. Good luck playing without trading, GGG has been stealth nerfing drop rates of items resulting in previous league content dropping next to nothing and piss poor drops in general if you play solo.

It used to be a good game but GGG listening to the players and the streamers has turned it into a mess that either requires alot of free time, preplanning to the point of being tedious, or group play to make any progress,. I just want to kill monsters, collect loot, and make fun builds

Dead By Daylight is unironically one of the most toxic cesspools of a community I've ever been apart of.
The killers are smug dipshits that are up their asses most of the time and think they're so oppressed by the devs and believe they have an IQ of 200 because they're a slave to the meta.

Survivors on the other hand are either brain dead baboons or equally smug retards that think they're better then everyone, the only difference is that it's more skinny dudes from the UK or California instead of autistic neckbeards.
