Motivating fatty to run

I know I'm late on this, but from the sound of it OP, Pyle has underlying issues that no amount of diet control or PT can fix. They say shaming works, but all it'll do for someone like him, is make those issues more entrenched. Pep talks clearly aren't working either.

He splays his feet when he walks or runs, which me and the other shts think means the stabilizing muscles in his legs are too weak to support his weight, so you may be right.
The best answer I can give is to supplement his PT with weights, if you aren't already. Even complete tards lift weights since that's something under their complete control. Have Pyle start with something just light enough to have him build confidence, and chain that into his PT days. With luck, that should build enough just confidence and strength to improve his PT.

just do this

Higher ups put me in charge of a gomer pyle type. He's been on mando PT every day for the last year and has only lost 20 pounds out of 300~, and hes still puking whenever he runs a mile. He's never passed a PT test in his career, and his next PT failure will get him discharged. Any advice on how to unfuck this troop?
Fatty shouldn't run. Fatty too big. Make fatty knees and body hurt.
Fatty need better diet. Fatty also need lift weights. Weights raise fatty's BMR, help burn fat while sleeping.

Hmm, alright I'll shift him to a more free weight focused routine. We tried before, but he had a rough time (bench: 135, squats: 165). That was a year ago though, so hopefully he's improved. Luckily the AF standards for alt pushups are piss easy (40 in two mintues) so we'll focus lower body and hope it translates to cardio. Weightlifting is basically just HIIT cardio, right? Lmao

It should do. The big three will help keep him balanced.

It's already been said but bears repeating: You can't outrun a bad diet, the only exercise that'll work is fork put-downs. We have a bunch of deathfat cows who think that "joyful movement" will be enough to counteract the 10,000 calories they inhale every day with predictable results. I'd say show him the horrors of that subforum for motivation, but if he's already this close to losing his job over his weight I don't expect it to really give him any epiphanies.

Fatties especially shouldn't run, it'll only fuck up their joints. If he's going to exercise, find something low impact (like cycling, swimming, ellipticals, rowing) combined with lifting. Walking is GOAT for weight loss (low chance of injury, no rest days needed, doesn't make you ravenous like running does), maybe do it on an incline for a bit of added cardio.

Put him on a low carb diet. 100-150 max carbs a day. No simple carbs only complex (whole grains, brown rice, fruits/veggies) . Low carb will give him a little bit more freedom to choose what he wants to eat without too many restrictions vs something like keto or carnivore. Low carb forces the body to burn fat for energy = lose weight faster. Eating higher fat plus only complex carbs = more stable energy throughout the day and fixes cravings and hunger signals. Encourage ruminant meats only but if he's picky poultry, high fat seafood, and pork will also work. Low fat high protein causes constipation even with fiber, be careful with ratios. If blood tests show mineral deficiencies, liver and other organ meats can be supplemented or add corresponding veggies/fruits. Avoid added sugar, seed oils, and unnecessary chemicals and preservatives in ingredients lists. Be careful with electrolytes and water consumption. It shouldn't take longer than a month to see major improvements in all areas of the body if he doesn't have cheat days. Also switch to tea instead of coffee or drink more whole milk. Depending on how addicted he is to things like caffeine or sugar, it might be a really rough ride for the first 6-12 months from withdrawals. If he wants to do fasting he can start with 16:8 (no eat 16, eat for 8) until he stabilizes and can handle longer fasts. For his heartburn, no drinking during or 2 hours before/after eating and take smaller sips. And don't drink ice cold water. It's tempting to chug especially when thirsty but it really helps to slow down and not drink as much all at once. With all that in mind, there will be a point where he hits a wall and stops losing weight. This will then require him to cut calories, but in the beginning, let him get used to the new diet with whatever makes him feel better while still losing weight.

Tldr: Increasing exercise while eating like shit is only going to destroy joints and is unlikely to produce results which will further discourage him. Limit amount and type of carbs and he'll feel and perform much better.

Don't make fatties run, it fucks up their feet and shins alongside their joints due to their weight crashing down on them. Have him walk. If you can get your hands on a pool or a clean beach, swimming is better. He needs to burn calories with minimum joint stress - otherwise the pain will make him exhaust faster and contribute to that "fatigue-induced emesis."

But that's only like 25% of the equation. He needs to eat less. He should be sub 1200 calories at the upper end. If you really gotta, force him on the potato only diet (but keep in mind they need to be boiled then baked, any other method leaves enough solanine in it that it will turn him suicidal, that is not a joke). Also enforce a diet schedule if possible - his last eating period should be over 6 hours before sleeping. Additionally, at that weight he's going to naturally have sleep apnea, so a lot of internal maintenance is gonna be hard for him. Guarantee he sleeps (even if in broken periods) 8 hours.

How the fuck did he even get into the Chair Force in the first place? I know they're pretty lax compared to other branches, but 300lbs? WTF?
I saw some fat fucking piglets in my time in the military. Usually were the NCO/SNCO/ O4+ since nobody can tell them to do shit.

Do you have access to bicycles?
At his weight (personal experience) running will hurt because of the weight impact on his joints. Cycling is lower impact.
Best is swimming but from the sounds of it you might not have access to a pool.

Also, sounds stupid but it’s not. Nicotine lozenges to kill his appetite.

For me it went swimming then cycling then running as the weight came off.

dude only has so many more years he's enlisted this is some serious lifetime change shit
He has the lack of willpower that only ozempic and the ensuring stomach paralysis can fix. You can bring a horse to water but you can’t make them drink and so on. I’d be more concerned about why they’re putting up to do such a bum task.
yeah ngl I think this is you getting assigned to escort the carrier ship Kobayashi Maru
I suspect this is about how you handle this more fatty getting not fat

He's a covid lockdown recruit. They suspended PFAs and squadron pt while he was in basic and tech school. I guess he just sorta... ate the whole time.

One issue we have with this is if he takes nicotine while he eats and pavlov conditions himself to enjoy eating even more. That said I did give him some multivitamins. The hope is that it'll curb any cravings from nutrient deficiency, which I'm sure he has.

Speaking of: we also suspect he might have a testosterone deficiency. Its hard to tell under all the fat, but he told me last week he only needs to shave once every week or two. I ordered him to get bloodwork. If we can get him some liquid bull testosterone from tricare maybe that'll kickstart something in him 🤷‍♂️

From what I was told the covid lockdown gimps didn't even learn any marching or anything like that, just sat in the dorms and had food delivered to them due to muh airborne rape virus. We still had the occasional flight get locked up for a month and they didn't do shit when I was in BMT.

I know testosterone is pretty tricky with triggering a medboard so be careful with that. I think test patches are good though, not the injections.
