Depends what your budget is. Astell Kern is pricey. Fiio makes good stuff intends of Sound fidelity but the firmware is the bare minimum. You should peruse head-fi.org, as there are a lot of premium and near premium dedicated audio players available. I am a big believe in keeping a physical digital, and I would never use my phone for serious listening...Before I figured out piracy, I would record songs by putting my MP3 player up to the speaker. A lot of the music bordered on ten minutes per song, so I'd stand still for ten minutes just to poorly pirate music. Taught me patience, at least.
What is your price range. New MP3 players are either super cheap or super expensive so its either under $100 or over $200 or more..Serious question, what would be the best mp3/music player to buy right now (new or used)?
That is why I am still too stubborn use my Ipod Classic over my smartphone because the wheel was a great input device. As much I detest Apple, they manage to hit it out of the park with the Ipod compare to most of the competition. That said part of me still misses the brilliance of the ipod wheel database. If someone could give that with the quality of my astell Kern alpha kann...
Smartphones are terrible for music. Sound quality is not as good. Do check out head-fi. There is so a small digital audio player subreddit if you can stand that shithole. That is why I am still too stubborn use my Ipod Classic over my smartphone because the wheel was a great input device. I think the reason why MP3 players are not as remember since outside the better brands, most MP3 players were shitty quality or if it was decent it wasn't built to last or repair.
I could see myself spending $200 on something that was of good quality. Mainly just want something better than my phone. What is your price range. New MP3 players are either super cheap or super expensive so its either under $100 or over $200 or more..
How much storage do you need? A Sony Walkman maybe a good bet...nw a105 I believe is the model that was better regarded than the others. Look into how you can get higher capacity as cards than advertised.I could see myself spending $200 on something that was of good quality. Mainly just want something better than my phone.
Sony makes high end Walkman for $300 and up for new. If you want something more classic and willing to search, an Ipod classic Gen 5 and up at least I know can be modded for new battery, better storage, and third party firmware if you like modding.I could see myself spending $200 on something that was of good quality.
