OKAY

So I'm pretty picky about starting new series and such, but after getting recommended Mr.Robot by literally half a dozen different people I gave in.

Focus is on computer and network security and it refreshingly stands out from past 'hacker flicks' coated in green text command prompts flashing HTML with HACKING IN PROGRESS windows. It's able to include several believable security scenes which don't throw around a distracting amount of jargon. If you sit watching TRYING to nitpick the technicals of it, you'll find holes. But really you shouldn't be watching a show for fun with that approach in the first place...

So brief summary, main character works as a security engineer who has a pretty convincing case of aspergers. Not trying to be funny, they really did make him a sperg who's behavior actually makes him unlikable at points. But he gets caught up with a politically motivated online group clearly meant to model Anonymous and we end up seeing a lot of anti Wallstreet big business sorta messages. The series sometimes bounces over to following some of the wealthy business men being targeted by the hacks which serves as a nice contrast for the audience to make between them and the main character.
Oh plus one of the supporting actresses is a qt.

The first season just completed and I'm on the second to last episode.
In addition to simply recommending it, I'm curious to hear if anyone else here has already seen it.
Thoughts? Criticisms? Reviews? I don't care about spoilers much, but if I post any I'll use the spoiler tag.

I'm pretty picky about TV. I don't watch much of it because I find films to be much more interesting and unique. But this show definitely has an auteur feel and a level of creativity different from other ones. This one caught me by surprise, especially since it came out of the USA channel which isn't known for making quality TV. I found it to be one of the few shows in recent times that I was excitedly looking forward to before it aired.

The show has some pretty intense moments and characters. Tyrell and the drug lord are turned up to 11, which is even more noticeable because they play next to Elliot's blunted affect. I don't have Asperger's or whatever Elliot has but I definitely can relate to his feels of interpersonal isolation.

I like that it involves a lot of the social engineering aspects of hacking. The stuff they say and what they type seems to be real computer stuff, but I'm not a huge computer guy and I actually came here to make a joke about how funny it would be if the main character hacked me to learn everything about me and what his internal dialogue would be when he came across Kiwi Farms and my 5,000 posts about an autistic manchild in Virginia and this his face when he found photos of CWC

, so I was kind of surprised people haven't been commenting on this show since Farmers are generally much more into computers and Internet culture.

My only criticism is that it
borrows a little too heavily from David Fincher
. Those who have seen the show will know what I mean.

Overall, I would recommend checking out at least the first couple of episodes. (Also, I would recommend not reading the IMDB message boards about this show if you don't want spoilers shoved in your face without warning.)

I actually just finished it i am still trying to digest it. I love it and its sad this season only had 10 episodes for us to enjoy, usually i dont care to much for the bad guys in television but Tyrell grew on me and i am looking forward to seeing him develop as a character later.

I just watched this first two episodes, It's like a bad car accident meets The Matrix. I'm glad nobody watches it.

I watched the first season whenever I could this week and while it does draw heavily from Fincher, it's great so I don't care much.

The acting is amazing and I really like the MC, playing a skizo character is something actors and actresses fuck up a lot.

I'll likely binge watch then second season as soon as its done, I'm glad they expanded it to 13 episodes this season.

Don't get excited about the second season the first half of the first one was great and it's exponentially more terrible with every episode

I saw the tail end of some episode because wrasslin was on afterwards.
Was I only half paying attention or did they show somebody eat a gun on basic cable a little bit before eight in the evening?
That's a bit more graphic than I expected for normie basic cable.

I heard that there's multiple f-bombs in the first episode of the second season. Which is shocking for basic cable. The only other modern basic cable show to do this was Breaking Bad.

They have no regulations for this stuff on basic cable though, other than scaring away ads which is rediculous. They might finally lighten up now that Netflix is getting popular for their more adult shows.

Yeah, that's what surprised me. WWE has been trying to keep it to a low TV-PG for a while for sponsor concerns so seeing the lead-in rerun of Robot Guys graphically depicting suicide in the Game Show time slot wasn't expected.

Just watched some show called Continuum. It's almost like the same show but with cheesy sci-fi and it was made before this show.
