Like I say, if you think that the MRA-o-sphere is the only place to discuss these issues, you're either living in a bubble or you're exaggerating to make a point.
Maybe you're right, but can you show me some proof?

I really hate to be that guy, but i'm actually curious to see some evidence. I know there are plenty of sources, but how many of them are on major news sites? Please prove me wrong.

MRAs can't even be credited with raising awareness because - despite what they often claim - MRAs are not the only people talking about issues like the invisibility of male rape victims.

And by bringing their obnoxious confrontational bullshit into it, they risk becoming the public face for some very real issues, rendering them toxic and intractable. Basically the exact same thing the SJWs are doing.

Maybe you're right, but can you show me some proof?

Which issues in particular?

- "Equity Feminism" is the vocal contingent of what 90% of civilised people believe, and for the most part they can't stop sperging about radical feminism endorsing hostility towards men.

- Practically every suicide prevention advocacy group goes out of it's way to mention that yes, men are at a higher risk because they tend to actively resist asking for help. I'm not going to even link one because you'd be harder pressed finding any kind of suicide prevention org that doesn't speak up about the gender disparity in what is essentially a mental health issue, not a gender issue.

- Father's Rights advocates tend to go under the name of 'alimony reform' or 'custody reform' activists. They advocate for gender equality in custody hearings and whatnot, and generally go out of their way to avoid being labelled MRAs because MRAs are embarrassing fedora-wearing pedophiles.

I'm not even gonna go through the whole batch because I'm not sure which MRA platforms you take seriously, considering "we should be allowed to rape sluts" is one that comes up often enough. What specific men's rights issues exactly do you think there's no platform for? All legitimate issues tend to get discussed and advocated heavily by groups specifically formed to advocate for those specific issues, because throwing a blanket 'Men's Rights' over your group just invites women-hating neckbeards to show up and draw pony OCs fucking each other in the ass, and then nobody takes you seriously.

If somebody stands for 'Men's Rights' (or women's rights) but has no clear idea of what rights they're actually demanding, chances are that person is just an embarrassing asshole who can't get laid, and expects special treatment for their gender.

Aside from body autonomy and equal pay, what are 3rd wave Feminists fighting for anyway? It seems to me special treatment for the fuck of it. Part of it seems to be in my opinion is for male and female interactions to be less common unless special terms and conditions. Like MRAs, 3rd wave feminism seems pointless besides body autonomy and equal pay.

"Third wave feminists" fight for recognition from the faceless masses on twitter so that they can somehow feel better about living sad empty lives devoid of all meaning and purpose.

I'm not complaining about anything, it's just a discussion. I get what you're saying; these issues are laughable cliches, mostly talked about by comedians, and that is exactly the problem. Comedians get a pass because they're supposed to be provocative, but bring the topics up anywhere else and get hit with fedora pics and banned for misogyny. It's a cliche stand-up routine, and everyone is familiar with the material, yet nobody is able to solve the problems. I think a lot of men are actually scared to bring it up. They would rather be miserable than risk pissing off their special princess lol.

Everyone always says they want to see positive changes, and then link to an article on Jezebel about how to get it.
MRA may be a comical failure, but it provided a much needed platform to discuss the other side. I know that a lot of people find it offensive, but it's a necessary autism because it will lead to something good.
@MACH-IV , I am quite keen on your line of argument here, so I'm going to push it a little. It sites Men's Rights Activism solidly within the Carnivalesque, where ridiculous or senseless acts serve to draw attention to serious conflicts, incongruities, and inequities within social institutions.

Within critical theory, it is variously argued that the Carnivalesque (1) clears the ground for new ideas to enter public discourse by breaking apart moldy old strictures in a spirit of freethinking impiety, or (2) ultimately serves to reinforce social norms by acting as a release for impulses that threaten the social order, even going so far as to (3) demonize weaker members of society and encourage brutal violence against the powerless.

So, MRAs think (1) they are engaged in overturning an unjust system, whereas plenty feminists who also perceive the system to be unjust believe (3) MRAs are just the worst. People actively working toward social reform don't generally want to squander limited time and resources on tard-wrangling; that (as per 2) just compromises their efforts and dilutes their message.

That's my very special crit theory shitpost for Deep Thoughts. Like what am I even doing with my life.

Yep, individuals with the interest and ability to advance a practical cause can usually figure out how to ride their hobbyhorse without getting hit with fedora pics and banned for misogyny.

Maybe this should be its own thread?

Primarily by staying the fuck off of Twitter.
