My Adventures With Superman

Honestly I feel like the show is middle of the road for me. While I'm not a fan of the character design or the voice acting I feel like it pulls off the general gist of what superman should be fairly well which is a big goofy guy with lots of power selling the idea of bright eyed justice and nobleness to the best of his ability. My big issue however is it just doesn't feel like I'm the target audience for this.
The show feels catered to I guess younger women(going by the most recent episode's ab shots and naked clark) in that sense but it also just feels off to have Superman, Lois and everyone else act like some internet dork instead of a bit more like adults.
I think one of my favorite parts of Superman TAS was when Lois wondered to Kent how he keeps getting stories despite being a rookie and he deadpan states "I'm actually superman and I'm squeezing you out of the byline" to which Lois joking replies that he's a sick man. It just feels like friendly banter two grown ups would engage in and not having them be teenagers screaming and yelling at each other and stuttering like virgins trying to ask their crush out to prom.

One more thing, I wished it did the clark/supe visual split better. There's this infuriating faggy view that LMAO HIS GLASSES ARE HIS DISGUISE and I think it's because nearly every movie and animated adaptation has done this very poorly. There's no change in mannerisms, posture or really anything beyond just a deeper speaking voice and maybe a hair change like in this show. I wish for once someone would put more care and effort into keeping up Clark's disguise in animated form as much as this page from All-Star Superman describes.

The show's just ok. I think it'll be swiftly forgotten a month after its release which I think is a grand shame but I can at least say it pushed me towards giving some of Superman's comics a shot and I've come to like the character a lot.

Ok now that it's at 6 episodes I finally watched it. It's mid. I've seen worse but I've seen better. Clark is definitely way softer, if anything this show reads more like a romance. Lois... I refuse to acknowledge her as Korean, she is Hispanic in my eyes, I know how the Koreans draw themselves lol. But she is a crazy hapa, though I hesitate to grant her the title of tomboy.

I think the only thing I’ve seen almost everyone agree on with the show is it gets Superman as a character a lot closer than anything since the old 90’s cartoons, and the stuff with Lois and Clark can be cute when they’re not doing the whole “I made you reveal your secret identity and now I’m going to make it about me” stuff.

Also here’s that but you were describing.

We got a leaked character sheet for Superman's mom.

Muh evil Lara also queen of the Kryptonian empire (since when was Krypton a fucking empire, in most versions of Superman lore Kryptonians can't even leave their own solar system, let alone conquer other nations). That sounds awful on multiple levels.

Also way to write a really skeevy "royalty sends their own son to safety and fuck everyone else" subtext. At least when Jor-El and Lara were a pair of random scientists that were laughed at for trying to warn everyone else that Krypton was about to blow, it made sense that they decided that at the very least they can give their son a chance at survival by shooting him into space. Less so when they are presumably in charge of Krypton.

@SteelPlatedHeart That's the one. I don't know how to describe My Adventures with Superman besides that they feel fairly juvenile. Like I get that the image of the virtuous go getter investigative journalist has been German suplexed off a skyscraper in the past decade but Clark, Jimmy and Lois feel like teenage interns.
Another clip I happen to like from TAS. Even when Lois was being thirsty over Superman she did it with some modicum of class.

It’s a decent Superman show idea dragged down by the fact that it’s made by the She-Ra reboot people.

If I even think you're going after his family or friends, I will destroy you
Young Justice of all things played this completely straight with having Ocean Master planning to blow up the Justice League's kids and getting killed by another villain before he could because they knew full well that if the Justice League stopped using no-kill rules they'd be absolutely fucked, which is weird considering how hard the series leans into the "heroes don't kill" mantra.
Wasn't the point of Superman that his origins was ordinary pair of parents rather than being fucking royalty?
They're farmers from Kansas, which is about as far from royalty as you can get. As for Jor & Lara, the former is usually a scientist of decent repute but not influencial enough to get anything done but I don't know about the latter, in STAS her dad was on the ruling council but I don't know if that was a show thing specifically or if it had basis in the comics themselves.

That explains a LOT. Which of them are involved?
I'm likely still going to watch it once it is done. I'm a stubborn supporter of both Justice League Action and Batman Brave and the Bold as worth watching even if you could not make me call them better than the prior runs with a gun to my genitals. I'm unwilling to call this awful without a watch.

For those keeping up how is Waller? She gets short changed so often it'd be nice to know if they're giving her some credit but with Deathstroke as the front man I suspect not.

Jor-el and lara can be whatever the creators want to be, but they must die and not interact with Clark. That is one of the biggest mistakes of man of steel and superman 78 movie.

Superman should be shaped by his enviroment, by creating these lasting ties to krypton this side gets messed.

One of the best Supermen is Hernan Guerra, who reached Mexico instead of the US, his actions reflect this.

But of course, since this is brainiac shenanigans, she gets a pass. Only DC retards can be really dumb to bring actual living Jor-El to interact with him in these last years, thanks bendis for being retarded.

For starters, the head writer of the She-ra reboot is one of the co-producers of the Superman show.

Both of those series were great and I would argue that Brave & The Bold is better than The Batman and about on par with BTAS. The only caveat is that you have to go in with a different mindset and acknowledge that this is the golden/silver age versions of characters. As a tribute to that along with modernization, I think B&B was as good an adaptation as the DCAU, helps that is was many of the same writers. I would say watch the DCAU and B&B back to back as they sort of hold as good representations of the evolution of DC from gold/silver to bronze/modern era.

As for Action, it got way overlooked having a similar tone, but more comedy focused. Still, it had a lot of heart.

As you say B&B was better but both felt like there was a lot of fondness for the source material. Every character was something of a parody of themselves but by and large it was a highly affectionate parody and delivered well. To say nothing of them often using characters who otherwise might never get animated (Detective Chimp for a fine example).

Plus Action gave us James Woods as Luthor which while not perfect was a quite entertaining time.

New episodes has Lois fing out about multiverse evil Supermans and then is given kryptonite.

I can’t image what’s going to happen…

Saw this show and its just okay. Probably better for like younger people watching this as their first superman show.

Only major positive I can give this show (along with Lois and Clark) is that it shows Superman content is still abandoning the grimdark trend that oversaturated the 2010's with Man of Steel and all the Evil Superman media.

The DCAU series is still the best version of the character in television for me, but that's lightning in a bottle.

I feel like this would have been cooler if every alternate Clark wasn't just a static jpeg.
