My Adventures With Superman

So how woke is this anyway? I'm sure it's got its moments.
Not really woke beyond the race swaps, it is just written in an extremely Tumblr fashion. It is clearly some Tumblr girl's romance fanfic starring her, the quirky Lois Lane, getting with the country nice guy, Clark Kent, and hanging with the quirky friend, Jimmy Olsen.

There is nothing insulting for Superman fans, hell, this is probably the most honest portrayal in years, but the writing is extremely pandering towards the female demographic. The entire show is built on shipping bait, so your enjoyment of it will really depend on how invested you are in Millennial, quirky romance.

Personally, I just can't do it. Watching through an episode, it just felt too juvenile. I am clearly not the intended audience for this.

This isn't what I'd call a "shipping bait" show. That'd be shows like Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Star Vs for how they set up multiple viable pairings between their characters without becoming harem-y. There's one big pairing in this show, and it's one they constantly fuck with for the sake of cheap drama that's agitating to watch. The secondary pairing feels like something that won't last into the next season.

Really I don't think there is an intended audience for this show. It feels like brand recognition for a bunch of stuff Warner Bros wants to push, given to writers who are tapped down by a mountain of mandates and outsourced to Korean slave labor while the executives liquidate the company and make off like bandits giving Disney a total monopoly over all comicbooks.

Although given the trend in every single MAWS thread on /co/ since episode 14, maybe the intended demographic is retards who can't fucking stop thinking about white genocide every waking moment of their lives and want any excuse they can find to justify that behavior as they stock up on terabytes of interracial porn.

I can tell I'm not either, just at a glance (plus I'm pretty much over capeshit, and was never big on Superman). But one episode won't really let you know if it's woke or not.

Sorry we don't like our government replacing us, Jose/Jamal.

Last episode of the season. After this it's a gamble for whether or not the continuing seasons get scrapped for tax breaks, and also at least two weeks of nothing but marathons for Toonami. UGH.
Man, has there been anything good that came out in the last decade?

Season 2 ended as pat as expected.
Fight fight fight. Casting call for all the characters in the show showing up to fight Brainiac. All the Metallo robots Brainiac hijacked turn out to be made of the same explodium as the Leos from Gundam Wing. Amanda Waller even takes out a couple just by shooting them with conventional bullets. Brainiac mind controls Supergirl evil by saying "Eradicator override", which makes me wonder once again why they had to go with the name everybody knew instead of the actual comics character that's an evil robot hell-bent on creating an ideal Krypton. Though speaking of which, we get some cheap heat from Brainiac saying "I blew up Krypton to prevent them from making peace with the galaxy", which while still a hundred shades of dumb at least prevents this show from ever bringing Rogal fucking Zarr into things.

Kara's defused by having the good guys hug her, and she and Supes push Brainiac's ship into the surface of the sun, who counters by somehow making his whole ship radiate Kryptonite (Why didn't he just do this before? Why didn't he make missiles with Kryptonite payloads?) and throws the Kryptonians into the sun because a character whose comics namesake is a hyper-intelligent being devoted to logic is too stupid to realize that even million-degree temperatures won't kill them nearly as well as shooting them with Kryptonite beams. Turns out being on the surface of the sun means there's so much yellow sunlight that it overpowers Kryptonite. Kara's outfit changes into a more traditional Supergirl one, and they smash Brainiac and his ship in what looks like a reference to Superman Red/Superman Blue by having Supes turn into a blue beam of light while Kara turns into a red one. They save his CPU for hell knows what reason, probably so it can be a plot device next season.

Kara joins the Kent family by playing catch. Cheap wrap-up montage, feels like this whole season was storyboarded back in 2023 and they made no effort to act like they had a chance of renewal, ironic as it was confirmed they were getting two more seasons a couple days before Season 2 aired. There's a clip of Lex and Deathstroke joining forces that a few Tumblr people will use as yaoi bait, and the last scene is Luz saying she's not going to Gotham and is staying in Metropolis.

Yeah, this ain't a good show. Lazy animation, ugly CGI, a scant handful of very surface-level references to far better anime, and a very baffling handling of the source material that feels at times like the writers or producers are unironic fans of the Zack Snyder atrocities. There's so much goddamn Suicide Squad nonsense that only fills time and detracts further from the show, and it probably only exists because of how the Suicide Squad is one of the only DC things making money outside of the comics. Seems like the legacy of this show will be a few months of jackasses making threads with the show's Supergirl as the OP to bitch about black men stealing their girlfriend.

You're all a bunch of incompetents. Your babies do not matter next to the necessity of making a good show that people will remember and care about. Trying to be a poor man's JLU will accomplish nothing and only generate more apathy from people who aren't 10-year-olds.
