I've seen some episodes while my niece was around.

It's an alright show, and sometimes I think the hate for it was undeserved, but it's not for me and I won't be a brony any time soon. The weirdos you see online need to get a grip though.

I watched the first series, thought it was pretty good, but I got bored and stopped watching it towards the end.
I've not once been able to watch one of those MLP classroom presentations for more than a minute. They're just... so cringey. I feel second-hand embarrassment really bad, so those videos just make me feel really uncomfortable. It's always the same skinny, awkward nerd being a huge fucking sperg in front of his entire class... horrible. :cryblood:

This thread is now about swords.
Katanas are pretty cool weapons, but weeaboos completely misinterpret their usefulness. Katanas are designed for very quick one on one duels. In the hands of a master, they're incredibly dangerous. In the hands of a sperg, you'll probably get a paper cut as the blade shatters on you, if they can hit you at all.
It's kind of a shame that other Japanese swords like odachis are forgotten in favour of the katana. I blame animu.
Western swords are better for protracted battles. But honestly I feel that swords get way too much attention. I mean, swords are awesome and stuff, but everyone uses a sword. What about axes? Vikings took over half of Europe with their axes. Maces sort out heavily armoured foes where a sword would just scratch his helmet.

Re: Bronies pic on Imgur/Reddit

If all goes well I may earn myself a Naval Officer's sword one of these days. I intend to get one that could hypothetically be used to repel boarders. But they're thin and stabby, so if the zombie hordes ever come, my melee weapon will be first a bayonet (since you can attach it to the much more important rifle), followed by a Gränsfors axe. Two pound head designed to cut through green wood should do pretty well against slavering hordes of flesh-hungry undead, and also be useful for a multitude of home and garden tasks.

I've said it before but it's kinda important.
There is nothing wrong with liking kids stuff as an adult. I for one fucking love Pixar movies and am 25. I got *yawn* friends who love the shit outta Adventure Time and Regular Show.
There's also nothing wrong with liking something geared to the opposite gender. My boyfriend loves trashy WeTV shows and Girls on HBO.
There's also nothing wrong with openly saying you love these shows.
There is something wrong about acting like you're being fucking persecuted and saying everyone is in the wrong for not liking something you do. Also creeping a Toys R Us for toys is socially frowned upon. Buy your shit off the Internet.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with what they do. It's bizarre, yeah, but a lot of bizarre people are really nice. The fact is these people are so hypersensitive and think that everybody owes them some kind of special treatment. They literally think that if people just watched the show (I was able to sit through about one minute of a single episode before I just couldn't take it anymore) they would instantly become fans, and then the world would be a better place.

Also, most cartoons are catered to a general audience. They're meant to be watched by the entire family, or at least all ages of guys, all ages of girls etc. MLP? Not so much...

I wouldn't have even found out about Bronies if they hadn't tried to convert me.

On Slayer videos.

Because when you think Raining Blood and Hell Awaits, you obviously think pink horses.

That's another thing. It's not like they grew up with MLP:FIM. I grew up with Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy and Edd Edd n' Eddy, so, yeah, I kind of have an excuse to watch those shows occasionally. They just decided to latch onto something because it would make them speshul.

Personally, I like the show. Not the greatest show ever, but definitely better than something called "My Little Pony" deserves to be.

Now-a-days, I don't consider myself a brony anymore due to the negative connotation. I'll just watch my show and not bother anyone about it.

To me, I used to watch the show back then and it's okay for me. Enjoyed some fan works too. Nowadays, not really watching them much.

Anyway, I remembered watching a video about a student doing a presentation of MLP again but surprisingly he was given an okay reaction.

My honest opinion of the MLP phenomena is this.

Pre faust MLP was just about the most godaweful show in the history of childrens cartoons, and i remember back in primary school (grade school for you filthy american pigdogs) that if you wanted to insult someone, you would doodle his books with crude mlp drawings (this was before we discovered the noble art of spamming cock drawings), and the one poor sod who was forced on one sad day to take a MLP lunchbox to school was ruthlessly mocked for years afterwards, it was even considered an insult to the girls if you implied they were fans of it. It was worse than barbie, worse than....whatever other shit was targeted at girls, it was literally the bottom of the barrel.

Lauren faust took this abomination and turned it into something that was...pretty ok for a kids show and which had agreeable amounts of non-idiot humour for non kids to enjoy. The kind of show I would have happily sat kids down to watch while babysitting them and not have my senses offended. This contrast between the filth that it once was and the well above average show it is now I think shocked many internetters, and caused an instant fandom to arise, partially out of genuine affection and partially out of the ironic humour of "ZOMG MUTHERFUCKING PONIES ARE AWESUM! WOO BRONIES FOREVA!!" which tends to arise when aggressive macho internetters find something cutsey and adopt it for laughs.

However this fandom then attracted the usual suspects of tardom and fail, the melodramatic, the lonely, the desperate, the degenerate, the shipper, the "serious" fanfic writer, the fapper. These types took away the inherent lack of seriousness behind the fandom, and in its place put the same loathesome sincerity that so corrupts the fandom. In place of the netter who called himself brony for laughs after watching an amusing remix involving ponies, is the melodramatic fuckwaffle who will tearfully defend their one true fandom in essay length posts of hour long videos.

Sure the small core of sane fans who actually just find they enjoy the show on it's own merits without "LOLROFLMPONIES" or "FUTASHY IS MY WAIFU" playing into it remains, but until the spergs find a new breeding ground the show and the fandom as a whole will remain forever tainted by association

People can defend it however they want, but the fact is that it is just an extended toy commercial for little girls.

Oh of course, but it is still an above average extended toy commercial. Same with transformers. Personally Im wondering what, if any, old 80s/90s toy commercial will dethrone it as the internet's obsession

I just like the original toys man.
The show is pretty good as very young children's shows go and it's very cute and nice.
What I've noticed is that with G 1 and G4 the quality of the toys depends on the quality of the show. G1 was shit and had the best toys, while G4 has the best show but has crap toys.

Its been said before, but I think a lot of what makes bronies so annoying, besides da Tism, is that they take it so damn seriously, and don't admit, "Yeah I know this is a silly cartoon for girls" Like, I will watch the 80's Gi Joe and Transformers cartoons every now and then, because I love 80s stuff, but I don't pretend they are serious, adult shows, about the nature of war and the human condition, I know they are just fun cartoons, that advertise cool toys.

The main reason they piss me off is that they infect other fandoms and cliques.

I'm a metalhead. I'm filthy, I've got long hair, I wear leather, I swear and beat the shit out of emos and other posers. I scream at the top of my lungs and spin my head in circles whenever I hear a kickass riff. When I go to concert I come home stiff as a board from the pit.

So naturally Bronies think that they can seem less like pussies if they co opt themselves into metal culture and as such they think nobody will fuck with them. If they didn't wear MLP T-Shirts at Mayhem fest this wouldn't be a problem. But they do this. They wear T-shirts with pink horses on them at a festival dedicated to bands that perform music about people getting torn to pieces and raped and sacrificed to Satan. Naturally they get the piss beaten out of them and then they think they're being persecuted.

Then what they do is they "ponify" something. I remember this poser who had an avatar on youtube that was the motorcycle from the Painkiller album cover, the penultimate Metal Album from the penultimate metal band, Judas Priest. On the motorcycle was a pink horse.

There is nothing remotely masculine about a show aimed at six year old girls. Stop corrupting our music in order to make yourselves seem badass and threatening. It's all just a farce and you know it.

There are three types of bronies I hate:

1) Those who act like it's the greatest thing ever.
2) Those who can't take jokes about the show.
3) Bronies who are so goddamn hateful towards humanity. They go on and on about how great Equestria is and how awful humans are.

When I first learned of these guys, I did some research of the show (by which I mean TV tropes and lurking). I actually like people who talk about the unfortunate implications of some episodes or how episode X makes character Y look like an ass. It shows they acknowledge some fault in the show.

The closest I've ever came to watching it is Friendship is Witchcraft. And I will admit, the characters are cute looking but I wouldn't feel comfortable watching the show as is.

yeah, pretty much if it exists, there is a pony version of it
