I think it's a Bill Corbett thing, but regardless of whoever keeps writing it I find that "IM AN INSANE ELF!" and variants on it very annoying.

GaryInMotion, who was I think a sound guy in Hollywood, had his YouTube account banned around 12 hours ago. All he did was post the full versions of movies on mystery science, with the theater silhouettes removed, the cutscenes in the spaceship removed, and he kept the entire, unedited movie the way it originally was. No scenes edited out for content and time, so they'd have a few extra scenes with no riffs because these were parts that mst cut out when the show aired the films. He kept all the riffs in of course, but he fixed the sound of the films so you could hear everything better, and he used much higher quality cuts of all the films than mst used on television.

None of his stuff was monetized, he just did this because he was a fan who enjoyed doing it, spending around 20 or so hours editing each episode. He had done close to 100 entire episodes.

Here's an interview paste magazine did with Gary at the beginning of June: https://www.pastemagazine.com/comedy/mst3k/mst3k-cinema-edition-youtube-mystery-science-theater/

This is very disappointing. I had been a fan of Gary's edits since the very beginning, when he only had around 3 episodes finished on his channel. He called them MST3K, Cinema Edition's.

Fuck YouTube, man. Gary and American Renaissance were the only 2 things that I really looked forward to watching on a regular basis and just in the past couple days, they're both gone.

I woke up to get a glass of water and was about to put on one of Gary's shows to listen to for a few mins, before I went back asleep for this last couple hours and they were all gone. Looked at his Twitter and had it confirmed. I'm so aggravated, I can't even go back to sleep.
That's the state of copyright law for you. Doesn't matter that he wasn't making a dime off of posting these movies, the fact that someone elsewhere might not be making that dime is all that matters. Not that I condone the guy's channel getting banned for posting old schlocky B-movies, but I would see it as an "only a matter of time" situation. Between the movies themselves and the riffs overlaid on top, someone would eventually bring down the hammer to prevent him from freely hosting copyrighted material. Hard to say that it would be fair use either, considering it's using even more of the original source material than MST3K themselves used.

It'll never happen, but I really wish someone would drastically overhaul our copyright laws. The DMCA was written two decades ago when the internet was far different from how it is today, and thanks to Disney's incessant lobbying, it takes decades for works to enter the public domain, if not over a century. Until that day comes (if it ever does), we should all keep circulating the tapes. Perhaps Gary can start torrents of his edits, much like the Star Wars Despecialized Editions.

Anyone else listening to the 372 Pages We’ll Never Get Back podcast with Mike and Conner Lastowka? It’s a book club podcast for shitty books that started with them reading Ready Player One, and they are currently enduring legendary fanfic abomination My Immortal.

The best books they’ve done, for the quality of discussion, have been Armada by Ernest Cline, The Mister by E.L. James, and to hear he sheer disgust and anger that the horrendously ugly thoughts behind the book, Sean Penn’s book Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff. My Immortal has the potential to join them, but it’s too amateurish to really get them on top form so far.

Despite his stupidity, he definitely had luck on his side. All the stupid shit he does throughout the movie, all the chances he had to end the whole ordeal, he keeps letting this teenage girl play him like a fiddle the entire time. And in the end, he still has all the luck. He's completely exonerated from all negative consequences and looks like an innocent, unwilling victim rather than a really stupid, compliant victim.
He would have fit right in with the Kennedy administration.
The Rebel Set (more beatniks than The Beatniks)
Dish of Ice Cream - Don't tempt me!

Final Sacrifice was copyright claimed by the director “from a line of great anuses”

Haven't been following the reboot, but apparently Gypsy is no longer politically correct and has been replaced with "GPC"
I recall hearing that was in the works for a while now.
Like most collaborative works the more the collaborators get distant from each other the more the work goes to shit.

was watching RT Icebreaker (some 2000 shit fest about skiing or something) and at one point Bill just starts getting pissed about YOU'RE BRUCE CAMPBELL DAMMIT DO SOMETHING and it's probably the most I've laughed at Bill ever.

I'm not entirely sure what happened to the live Rifftrax shows that were supposed to come out this year because I kept forgetting to check for news. They might have already happened or got broadcast online or something, I dunno. However, they're doing a live riff of Jack-O broadcast to theaters this Wednesday:
Glad to finally be able to watch another live show, yet another thing I've been missing due to the Wu Flu.

I've been listening to them, and their current books is Stephanie Meyer's blatant cash in novel that tells the story of Twilight from the vampire lad's point of view and this one, I could not follow along with them by reading the book which is just as well because this thing apparently takes ages to go through - there's a part where the vampire uses his powers to read a character's thoughts, the readers are treated to a three-page flashback and then our vampire hero decides "eh, nothing important". Plus Stephanie Meyer describes a baseball game as if she were only vaguely aware that a game called baseball existed but couldn't be bothered to really research any of the most basic rules or slang.

The Harry Potter riffs are consistently entertaining.
Yeah, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed their Harry Potter riffs. I thought they'd end up with a lot of repetitive material that they'd run into the ground of the course of eight films but they stayed consistently entertaining throughout the series.

Speaking of running a joke into the ground, which shitty millennial writer on their staff keeps adding Nick Nolte jokes and impressions into their scripts? It was in Ready Player One where I first heard it but it's been in at least three other of their rifftrax. I don't know if it's meant to be some sort of ironic "lol is this so unfunny? lmao" bit or if the writers actually think they're hilarious.
