Yeah, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed their Harry Potter riffs. I thought they'd end up with a lot of repetitive material that they'd run into the ground of the course of eight films but they stayed consistently entertaining throughout the series.

Speaking of running a joke into the ground, which shitty millennial writer on their staff keeps adding Nick Nolte jokes and impressions into their scripts? It was in Ready Player One where I first heard it but it's been in at least three other of their rifftrax. I don't know if it's meant to be some sort of ironic "lol is this so unfunny? lmao" bit or if the writers actually think they're hilarious.

The Nick Nolte stuff is a Boomer joke that they've been doing for years. I highly doubt Millennials had anything to do with it. It's just a funny impression that got old after awhile.

Like I said, I first noticed it in Ready Player One which was 2018, so obviously it's been a few years. And, yeah, the millennial bit was dumb; outside of Mike, Kevin, and Bill there only seem to be two other writers, who've been there since near the start.

In general I guess I just haven't been enjoying Rifftrax's stuff much lately. The most recent one I tried watching was Beaks, which I got bored with midway through, turned off, and haven't had the urge to start it again.

Joel, Servo (Josh), and Crow (Bill) in the old 4:3 theater cover a couple of shorts

older Josh trying to sound like his old Servo "teenager trying to sound older" is weird
nice chemistry for Bill with the others, didn't really expect that
very weird seeing the old door sequence lead to new content in the theater after a quarter century

I wonder why he went with Bill instead of Trace or Hampton. The former would've really made those shorts nostalgic.

had an interesting occurrence online tonight
some synchtube was watching Jack Frost, one guy in the chat was from Ukraine, another probably Russian judging from their shitposts at each other
at the end both agreed they didn't really "get" MST
there was Project Popcorn to disagree with it being absolute but it makes me wonder if there's something cultural where ex-USSR just doesn't get it in general

watching Rifftrax - Wonder Women (1973)
it's weird hearing Mike make a Dragonball joke

That was a surprisingly good episode. Much like a spaghetti Western in space. I think the reason it gets dismissed is because of the silly 60's fashion and colored wigs.
yeah the movie's whole idea is exactly a western in space
it's a surprisingly solid little scifi flick on its own, too, especially considering it's basically a quick cash-in on 2001
there's some mildly important parts that either get cut for time or talked over so it's worth a look raw, too

I have bad news. Seen on the patreon channel about what to vote on for the next Turkey Thursday of rifftrax.

I can't blame them because there's no doubt a bunch of the comedy nerds who keep throwing money their way are fucking SJWs. I'm just glad they didn't cancel Mike who is a conservative.

For now....

Some of us conservative patrons should probably push back but...
