The first national season was scripted, but they kept the riffing light because they were concerned that people wouldn’t be able to follow along with the movie to understand plot specific jokes they would make, and I’m guessing there was also just confidence issues about how much riffing would be considered obnoxious. There are definitely a few movies from the KTMA era and the first season that deserve to be revisited.

I'm curious to see how this Kickstarter does compared to the previous one. The response to those two new seasons was somewhat tepid, so I wonder if people will be more hesitant to back it this time. I'm sure there are enough whales that want more MST3K no matter what that it'll reach its base goal but beyond that I wanna see how much it makes.

I find the new cast either wholly unlikeable or incapable of presenting the material, and the writing slides between not so great and terrible. Jonah Ray turned me off the second he was announced, though, so I was pretty much out at that point, but man, I really tried for a few episodes. Joel is just beating MST3K's dead corpse over his passive-aggressive, Midwestern hate-boner for RiffTrax.

$100 to download the new episodes. $250 for the blu-ray.

The "Gizmoplex" sounds like a big scam.

I didn't hate the new seasons or the new cast but they definitely don't compare to the original series or even Rifftrax at their best.

No interest in the new Kickstarter nor the proposed subscription-based app Gizmoplex. I wonder if plans for the app will affect the various places that stream MST3K for free, like Pluto.

They’ll definitely start cracking down hard, but at this point I’m just gonna torrent and forget it.
