I am still wondering why the charges are from years ago. Is it because there is video evidence? I don’t know much about leaf law but in the US he could get very serious time here because he has a prior violent conviction. It might not matter as much that she doesn’t testify if they have video evidence. I’d assume they’d offer him some plea deal for less time but where he is deported and cannot recenter Canada for ten years or something.
It would be hilarious if DD meant to do this as some control move, hoping she could then drop charges and take him back soon after he learned his lesson but then it’s out of her hands and he gets a long prison sentence or deported. Ideal poetic justice for them both and then the elderly in Canada can be safer

I will repeat my theory of what happened with Mae. She didn't travel across a continent to another country to try his food. She wanted to have sex with him but wanted it to be a romantic encounter, which is the last thing Nader is capable of providing. He forcefully fucked her and then fucked off.
