I have a question for the Arabic speakers in the thread, and rate me late if it's been asked/answered. When Nader speaks Arabic does he sound like a retard? He sounds retarded when he speaks English but that could just be a thick accent and a loose grasp of the language. On the other hand, I've worked with a lot of native Arabic speakers in the past, some who had only been speaking the language for a few years and none of them sound as mushmouthed as Nads. I was wondering that myself and watched a few of his videos (not on his channel). I think what happens is, he watches one or two youtube videos of a dish he wants to make. He (gets Chantal to) buy the ingredients. Then he smokes crack/meth/whatever and either combines the images in his head of the videos or hallucinates them. He also is very concerned with looking like a real pro by throwing his knife around, touching the food with his bare hands and pretending he knows exactly what he doing.

By the time he turns the camera on, he is so drugged out and self absorbed, he mixes up the order of the ingredients and forgets/combines cooking times and temperatures. By combining more than one recipe, and not in a good way, it's all fucked up but he has to play it off and go with it especially in a live stream. Plus, he is not going to waste the food by tossing it out and doing it over.

Or he is just a shitty cook

The only thing I'd add is that he's high and/or hallucinating when he watches the original YouTube video. It's easy to get your wires crossed when Chef John starts muttering to you to kill the woman across the hall, do it Nader, she works for the feds and she's onto you Nader, she's gonna send you back to Egypt, it's her or you Nader, you know what you have to do just do it you can follow her home and then escape over the balcony after all you are the Real Man of going on the lam in the middle of a recipe for eggplant parm.
