Also, she will get severance pay for all of her years at that company. If she had been contributing to a company pension plan she may be collecting a pension now, or when she is 60-65, or getting a return of her pension contributions. Big D has a few years of living comfortably. If she doesn’t have a plan for herself she has to wait till she is 60 to start collecting government old people handouts (CPP or the Quebec equivalent).
