Name a game you hate but everyone else loves - Because you have opinions too <3

Cyberpunk 2077

I realize that this hasn't been released yet, (people have been drooling over this game for a long time) but there was a rumor that Lady Gaga was going to be in it. And if she is, I am giving this game a hard pass. I can't stand that fucking poser cunt and I would rather slit my wrists with a teaspoon then purchase a game that she is going to get royalty kickback from. It also rubs me the wrong way that if she is going to be in Cyberpunk its a blatant marketing tactic. A game should be able to stand on its own without a "celebrity" propping it up. But whatever.

Seems like kind of an extreme reaction for just voicing a minor npc but whatever.

Half-Life. The story is nonexistent, the characters that can be counted on one hand are at best bland, the gun play is genuinely bad and the first person platforming is as bad as ever.
There were games that did everything Half-Life did but better at the time so don't tell me that it's just old.

Bloodborne. God it was dull. The storyline was boring, the visuals were grimdark squint your eyes if you can see it trash, and the fighting basically boiled down to dodge like a Mexican crossing the border. Every single time.

I like the visuals, but the game did feel like I was just mashing the dodge button a lot.

I don't hate them but the current gen GTA games have been extremely mediocre.

People have come around to disliking it more, but I never liked Fire Emblem: Awakening and hated that it was people's top 3DS game for years. I played a couple other SRPGs before FE:A, I dunno if anybody on KF knows of Luminous Arc, but FE:A felt so flat and dull in comparison.
The graphics in Luminous Arc were hand-drawn and the sound effects were amazing. It was in isometric style as well, which is much better than the top-down style of FE. FE's design is of unoriginal animoo characters and pixels.

I won't drone on, but every other SRPG I've played was better than FE:A. FE is grindy and boring with trashy political storylines. There's some good ideas in class building but I don't like the package it's wrapped in.

I like bad games and I know very well why and how they're bad. Pac-Man isn't a bad game and it is a very important part of video game hisotry but if I got trapped in an elevator with a working Pac-Man cabinet for a week the only use that machine would see would be when I try to piss into the coin slot so the urine doesn't slosh around the floor.

Starcraft. I can't stand the hyper aggressive gameplay style. You can literally be killed within a few minutes of starting if your opponent decides to rush. I want to build up a big base and have big fights with my enemies not micro manage small amounts of units or end the match within minutes. I grew up playing multiplayer Empire Earth (clan Lotus represent!) which is probably why I like a slower RTS.

On the flip side of that the slow build times and having to remember which building builds what unit or upgrade which is hard enough in single player when you have over 9000 nondescript buildings. All zerg structures look like piles of poop with spikes sticking out of them.

I've always preferred Command and Conquer's sidebar. It fits a lot better to given the "you are in command" conceit of the game. And thats not even getting into AoE/Galactic Battlegrounds that have even more stupid structures to click.

Rocket League.

It seems cool conceptually and was fun for a few minutes, but the stories of people playing nothing but RL for weeks upon weeks baffled me to my very core. I can't stand it for more than a few minutes and even then it's bland to me.

Ocarina of Time
I don't hate it by any means but I couldn't really get into it, it's not even an old game thing since I love other games from that era.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the only good character designs are Pyra and Mythra, the voices are terrible so the game practically forces you to play the Japanese dub (not that I'm complaining, I prefer subbed) the game drags and there's a fuckton of backtracking, and the combat system is horrendus

I quit when one of my friends told me to watch a Youtube video to understand how to efficiently use "links" or whatever they were in battles, and I thought it was ridiculous that I'd have to watch a video to understand combat for a JRPG, so I dropped it.

It's literally a ripoff of the anime series Elemental Gelade. Look at character designs or read a synopsis and you'll see it immediately.

Hate is a bit strong, but I definitely didn't like it. Red Dead Redemption.

I'm sorry, but this is the most boring open world I think I've ever played. The controls were a million times better than GTA IV (they even copied them for V), but it's still got that insanely boring 'realism' factor Rockstar has been obsessed with in the last few years, along with its beyond atrocious shooting. You either god-mode the game with auto-aim or die instantly because it's so bad otherwise.

Funny how many third person shooters I've played on console that never require auto-aim but Rockstar titles.

Again, I didn't hate it. The story missions were fun enough, the story was.... okay.... and it wasn't head-banging dull like GTA IV, but I could not wait to be done with it.

Maybe I would've gushed over it the same as everyone else if I had gotten to play it on PC with all the older GTA games that made me a Rockstar fan, but now.... wow, what a letdown considering the hype.

Considering too, the sequel is he most hyped game of this last year, I really don't know what to think. I'll try it, but I'm going in with low standards. The footage I've seen looks a little more interesting, but if it's more of the first, I doubt I can finish it. At least it'll be an easy resell.

But man, the rave reviews the first game got, when it's essentially just mediocre and a bit bland, really elevate my hate towards it more than anything. Seriously, not THAT good, and a pretty weak open world game for the time.

I'm in the other direction, I enjoyed RDR but have never been able to finish a GTA. I just find them completely boring.

How many have you tried?

That's weird to me, since I feel you can have fun in GTA just driving around in real time with the radio on. The only thing I personally can see RDR surpassing GTA in is mini-games, like gambling in every saloon or town.
If that's your bag, I'd imagine it's one of the longest and infinitely replayable games ever, but if not.... (like me), there's not much else.

I've tried GTA 3 and Vice City. I haven't tried any after the PS2 generation though, I guess.

There's your problem. At least play San Andreas; it's kinda the gold standard for GTA, even now. I mean, it's not V good, but close.

I started with Vice City and later played 3, but after SA, they just felt tiny.

That's sorta the weird thing. I played them when they first came out and I didn't like them then. So it's not like I'm looking back and going "these old games are so janky", it was more like...I don't even know. They put me off the series enough that I haven't bothered since.

Fair enough.
Though what about RDR got you curious, if you weren't impressed from the developer's signature IP? Kinda weird you even gravitated to it for me.
