Was Cosmo his real name? I always thought it was his name online but every reference to him I see cites Cosmo as his birth name.

Narcissa's recent streams have been outright weird and depressing. It seems like all he does is sit around for hours, get high and mope to the stream chat . Eventually people from /v/ and /pol/ arrive and from there the stream turns into a video feed of Narcissa reading people shitpost about him on 4chan / in the stream chat. Sometimes he even puts the threads on stream.

This can't be healthy:

I'm interested to know what he's going to do once his finances run dry. What's he even doing for money right now? He's not raking in donations like he used to back on twitch, and his ad revenue on YouTube has to be next to nothing. Is he really living off savings with no income?

Will turning tricks in dirty back alleys be part of the Narcissa story? Only time will tell...

There are four main factors that lead to Cosmo's descent into madness.

His (former) girlfriend Adrian
Jodenstone taking his OoT world record
Getting destroyed by John Numbers in front of 100,000+ people at E3 2015
Soylent

I've been following his story for a few years now and I'll do a write up at some point explaining everything in detail.

God damn, this one is depressing.

I know I am a bit late on this, but Cosmo was a really chill guy who was extremely good at what he did (play video games quickly).

He was also a damn good smash Melee player, despite using an extremely low-tier character (Zelda). Like, seriously, dude could compete at the regional and national level playing a character many consider to be among the absolute worst in the game.

On a possibly related note, he fucked up his hands. This isn't all that uncommon, especially among Melee players, with a few top ten in the world level players having really serious hand health issues (such as Hax$ and m2k). I only bring it up because I imagine not being able to do what he did best at as high a level anymore may have contributed to his initial descent into depression/insanity.

Honestly, I really hope she wakes up and comes out the other side of this, though the last couple years have obviously not given much reason for optimism.

Getting destroyed by John Numbers in front of 100,000+ people at E3 2015

You know for the longest time I felt people were blowing this out of proportion as a factor in Cosmo's mental decline, but now that I look back... maybe.

It was a pretty fucking serious embarrassment. Cosmo actually played well up until the very last round of the event (barring getting owned by a Game Grump in Mario Kart) where he was unable to get out of the first room. By the time he figured out to walljump, John Numbers was at the finish line. It was literally DSP-level incompetence. I remember reading Twitter and the Twitch chat and it was pure cringe. Jim Sterling said something like "Well, this is just sad."

It must've been very destructive to his self-image. If he had put up a good fight and lost clean he could've walked away with his pride, but instead he got laughed at in front of tens of thousands of viewers, a live audience, countless game journalists and Shigeru Miyamoto himself. I remember how self-conscious he looked as he accepted his autographed DS from the man (still an amazing prize) while John Numbers also got a shiny trophy and most of the applause.

Funnily enough, zfg predicted that the speedrunners were all going to get owned by some random, and that's exactly what happened. Imagine being a speedrunner so famous for playing and perfecting Nintendo games that you caught the attention of Nintendo itself and then getting cucked live in front of Miyamoto at E3 by some nobody who won a contest at Best Buy. Even Trihex got to walk away earlier on with his head held high and his dignity intact, and he only got more popular because of it.

John.

Fucking.

Numbers.

Here is the video in question, if anyone cared. Bugged walljumping mechanics, indeed.

That's also why it's kinda annoying to get content for the thread. Nobody's going to watch a 12 hour video just to find maybe one or two good bits.

I agree, that is fucked up. People who played w.o.w. too much when it was in its heyday did that all the time. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is what its called. Surgery can correct it sometimes
