To what extent does GDQ owe it's explosion in popularity to Cosmo? Anything?

Seems that he distanced himself from it right before they really hit it big. Was that his doing, or was he pushed out? If the latter, I can understand harboring some resentment, especially when rumors were swirling that the people in charge were making some good money piggybacking off the non-profit.

CTS is a painful and debilitating bitch, but it's definitely treatable. You can have steroid injections to relieve the symptoms but the only way to get rid of it is to have surgery, and have it as soon as possible to avoid permanent nerve damage. With surgery there's around a 90% chance of improvement and a 50% chance of a complete cure, and if it's worked the relief is pretty much instant. If Narcissa has CTS she has my absolute sympathy because it's bloody horrible, but she needs to get this shit fixed because it's absolutely not going to go away. The last thing she should be doing is sitting on her butt making Youtube videos while the money runs out.

Before GDQ was AGDQ/SGDQ it was Classic Games Done Quick, a ghetto event run out of a dude's basement that benefited heavily from the publicity of having popular runners on the schedule. AGDQ 2013 not so much since the event was sponsored by then, but headline runs like Wind Waker were a big plus and I'd say 2013 was when GDQ truly blew up into the behemoth it is now.

Cosmo hasn't been to GDQ since shortly before coming out as a tranny. I remember him on the couch at SGDQ after he got the 18:10 (where he got accepted to run Castlevania, but cancelled) but not the events since.

I'm not keen on the controversies surrounding how GDQ was run besides an occasion where Mike Uyama was "sick" for months and still getting paid to do nothing. The thing about GDQ is that its expenses are covered by the charities it benefits, meaning it's hard for them to move away from PCF and MSF when the smaller non-profits they consider for future events can't front the money. GDQ's relationship with PCF in particular is weird: PCF derives a large portion of its annual funding from AGDQ, but earlier this year GDQ forced PCF to reallocate its 2017 budget to address criticism that PCF had no international reach and didn't fund cancer research.

Also worth mentioning is that, on rare occasions, the wrist issues can actually go beyond just typical CTS.

I mentioned Hax$ in my earlier post, who I consider to be sort of the ultimate horror story in terms of gaming destroying someone's hands. You can check out his blog for the full story, but basically his tendons calcified to the point that he needed to have some removed and is still in enough pain that it interferes with day to day tasks.

Bottom line, I think these hand issues Cosmo had may have had a bigger impact on his initial decline than a lot of people suspect. Like, he defined himself as someone who is good at games, and having chronic debilitating hand pains took that way of defining himself away from him. Add that loss of personal/professional identity into being "humiliated" at NWC, being broken up with, gender identity issues, and obviously some underlying mental problems, and you really have a perfect storm

He used to be an extremely friendly, likeable person. Immediately after identifying as female he started acting in this obnoxiously stereotypical way, like "haha I'm such a bitch lol." Then he started wearing all kinds of ridiculous anime-girl outfits (like internet trannies always do). His gender performance is so overtly deliberate and informed by sexist stereotypes of femininity, it's absurd for him to suggest that this is just his "true self" finally being set free.

I also wanna say he has this style of avoiding responsibility for all his severe issues by "reclaiming" them. He named himself Narcissa and always has some self-aggrandizing twitter bio, and rants constantly about how fucking above-it-all he is. He gets high and sits in front of a webcam doing nothing for 12 hours a day, and says he's not going to get a "meaningless" paying job because it's his right to do whatever he wants.

Getting the hell off the computer and finding a real job would obviously solve most of this guy's issues, but anyone who tells him that rather than affirming his shitty put-on personality and NEET lifestyle is a transphobic concern troll.

Agreed. I went back and watched some of his older speedruns and he seemed like a cool guy, shame he has become so boring and self-absorbed.

I was wondering though, you said he gets high when he sits in front of the webcam, what is his drug of choice?

Even for Cosmo that's a pretty hilarious threat. He of all people would know that WRs are temporary (pun not intended) as they're always being improved, especially in a game's earliest days when strats, glitches and routes are mutating rapidly. Theoretically just being the first to record a playthrough of a game makes you the WR holder.

It took about ten years of dedicated optimisation and glitch hunting by dozens (if not hundreds) of runners to push OOT Any% below 20 minutes, and his crowning achievement in that game was still surpassed within a year. Even beating Twilight Princess in >3 hours wasn't possible until last year. Getting a shitty WR and an hero'ing would be like lifting a dumbbell ten times and declaring your retirement from bodybuilding.

He knows full well delivering a run that'd let him rest on his laurels would require him to dedicate several more years of play and participate in the speedrun community again, which obviously is contrary to his "I'm a free bitch" philosophy and the limits of his ailing hands.

But I mean hey, trannies making baseless suicide threats for attention? Who'da thought!

It's probably on youtube hidden in a 12 hour long stream but I do remember hearing that. But I don't think it was an actual plan but something he would like to do to get back at the people who only liked him for speedrunning and not acting strange in front of a camera.
