God this guy is so weird. I do genuinely feel for him when it comes to his mom passing away but...I don't know. His reactions to everything just feel...off. Like the combination of unchecked mental illness(es?) and drugs have just perma-fried the part of his brain responsible for emotional intelligence.

I'm not sure how to word it properly. Guy just never behaves 100% lucidly even when he's sober. Big if on that.

Nah, that's been around for a long time. The general idea is there's some actual physiological process at work when animals of certain species mate for life, and supposedly human beings are among the species that do this. Further, so the idea goes, the more sexual partners a woman has, the less likely she can form a meaningful pair bond with subsequent partners until she loses the ability to pair bond entirely.

Supposedly the "magic number" for that is around 10 -- if she's had her cervix painted by more men than that, a woman will never be faithful no matter how she feels about any given partner or how well he treats her because that bond can't form anymore. And yes, in a few instances I've heard people claim it literally involves internal exposure to DNA, i.e. unprotected sex.

Now of course this is shit I've seen pretty frequently on /pol/ and among MRA's, so take it with a massive grain of salt. There's supposedly at least some real biological basis for the idea, but I can't remember how much of it is actually the result of peer-reviewed research and how much of it is angry men looking for a fancier way of saying "once a slut, always a slut." I mean, that's certainly true, but I dunno why there's such a need to put a complex theory behind it.

I remember seeing soul bond before, which was pretty ridiculous because you would get a choker or something that represented the other person and other cringy stuff like telepathic connections. I figured pair bond was an off shoot of that, but turns out it's the other way around.
Some people have such strange, extreme ideas of what relationships are like.
