Last night was a purely dominant performance. Tonight's was an epic slog back from mostly self-inflicted errors. Great stuff.Ty Majeski won the Truck race & the championship yesterday and it wasn't a disaster like last year. Good on him, but man the Playoff system has cucked Christian Eckes so hard this year. Dude had finished outside of the top 10 only one race out of the whole season, won 4 of 'em, only has 3rd in the overall standings to show for it. Think he would've had the championship by a mile under a normal points system.
And tonight, Justin Allgaier finally gets himself an Xfinity championship. 2nd in the race behind Riley Herbst, who he let by in the final corner probably because otherwise he risked getting wrecked by the guy who dominated the race for the most part and whose team doesn't exist after this year. Unfortunately had to get through a few dumb cautions to get there, and that may have screwed Cole Custer's gameplan a bit, but man did Allgaier drive his ass off after putting himself two laps down for no reason late in the race. (Also worth a note, Chandler Smith would've won this championship under the Winston points system.)
Cup tomorrow. The potential for funny shit still awaits.
Calling it now, Joey either gets a third championship or he doesn't finish in the top 10.Cup tomorrow. The potential for funny shit still awaits.
All I know there is going to be a lot of seething after the final call of the race that is for sure. It will be probably some dumb overtime rule.Calling it now, Joey either gets a third championship or he doesn't finish in the top 10.
Well, you got it right!Calling it now, Joey either gets a third championship or he doesn't finish in the top 10.
These motherfuckers really doubted even year Joey. Congrats to joey on his third championship, luckiest bastard in the sport but dammit he's good at what he does.Well, you got it right!
It was a good battle with Blaney and Logano though.Well, you got it right!
14th place in points is the champion. Only in Nascar, baby. Everything Else is Just a Game (tm). These motherfuckers really doubted even year Joey. Congrats to joey on his third championship, luckiest bastard in the sport but dammit he's good at what he does.
Business and retard 'fans' who want excitin' stuff. Why don't they bring back the points system? The only people watching are racing fans anyway. It was more popular like that anyway if they are trying (and failing) to garner attention from non-racing fans. This year just proves how fucked the """playoff""" system is and it doesn't really add to the excitement. I don't know, I feel like a broken record asking why NASCAR makes dumbass decisions.
I don't know, I just feel like whoever said, "These ain't like the championships Dale and Richard won". (or however that quote goes)Business and retard 'fans' who want excitin' stuff.
The business side is mostly for the tracks and TV, and is a huge reason why nobody in the media ever says a peep against the system, especially not to suggest the old system come back. It ensures that every race 'matters' for purposes of the championship and then you don't have to deal with the late season TV package maybe being worth less due to a couple of 'pointless races' or tracks not wanting to be the last race for the same reason.
The Frances care about two things. Control first, money second. You might think I have that backwards, but I think they know... Or believe at least that control makes money. Everything they touch, charters, the playoff system, track ownership... It all increases their already incredible hold on American racing.I don't know, I just feel like whoever said, "These ain't like the championships Dale and Richard won". (or however that quote goes)
It's just a damn shame that ego and whatnot have to bring the product down. Higher ups meddling and 'fixing' things to their liking is a tale as old as entertainment/sports have been around. That system doesn't make sense with straight points, so why would they go back to it?
I wonder how the next generation of drives we will see act like entitled pricks because they had everything given to them. How many pieces of sliced bread would we see. It's just a damn shame that ego and whatnot have to bring the product down. The next generation? It's rampant among the younger members of the current one.I wonder how the next generation of drives we will see act like entitled pricks because they had everything given to them. How many pieces of sliced bread would we see.
