Fun race, but we all knew it was going to be SVGwinslol. I at least have to give everyone props for not causing a massive pileup into the 1st corner on a late restart leading to OVERTIME! (tm)
 
The commentators screaming about how THEY'RE GONNA RUN OUTTA GAS and then absolutely nobody actually running out was pretty funny ngl.

I could meme about how NASCAR "let their golden boy get extra gas under red", but at this point it's pretty clear they've given up on ol' Bubbles, and the caution with 5 to go had clear shades of a mid-10s "debris" caution designed to fuck the leader over in particular. Crew chief just called a good race, and for the first time in years it seems like Bubbles didn't screw it up under pressure.
 
Also, feels like worth noting, not necessarily from a 'NASCAR series' but both sanctioned & operated by NASCAR, and there's no other relevant place for it here anyway — a guy died racing at Bowman Gray Stadium the same day. Messy week.

Given the tiny size and thus lower speeds of Bowman Gray, what people have been saying (and what I believe, not the first 'fatal racing accident' I've seen end up this way) is that Brewer had a heart attack just after the race restarted and ended up pinning the outside through turns 3/4 and into that pit exit wall.
 
Many sources report quite a few changes for the 2026 season:
  • Miami is once again the season finale.
  • Watkins Glen takes its place in mid-April.
  • A street race in the Coronado Navy Base in San Diego will take place in June.
  • Mexico City and Chicago got shafted.
  • Chicagoland returns in the Chicago street track's place.
  • Dover will host the All-Star Race.
  • North Wilkesboro will host a points race.
  • New Hampshire will be the second-to-last race before the playoffs.

It will be interesting to have North Wilkesboro a points race, but are they gonna keep Dover as a points race too no?
 
Sooooo, 750HP on the short tracks next year.

That may have some implications beyond just the racing.

I'm betting on 'tweak' not 'returvn to Winston Cup', sadly, but it's encouraging to hear. If Logano pulls out a squeak-into-the-round-of-8, win at vegas then win phoenix AGAIN it might force their hand for radical moves.

My bet is "Tweak" for 2026 and then something major for 2027. I doubt full season points would even be possible to implement before the start of 2026. It seems at large the fanbase and even major figures within the sport are sick of the playoffs and calls for a full season points system are seemingly gaining a lot of traction.

It would at least bring some credibility back. There's a reason why everyone else has been using a points system because IT'S SIMPLE AND IT WORKS.
