NASCAR Discussion - Sperg out about four left turns here

The new NASCAR Game, NASCAR 25 comes out tomorrow*. (It's actually be out for a few days for people who preordered.)
*Xbox and PS5 only, PC is coming November 11th for some reason.
So far the biggest complaints I've seen come down to 4 things-
1: The paint booth is kinda shit, better than HEAT and the Thunder games, worse than the Eutechnyx games and way worse than Forza and GT7.
2: No alcohol sponsors in the game, not even coming via DLC or anything.
3: Every car in game has only 1 base game paint scheme, more schemes will be added as paid DLC. (I've heard a few conflicting reports that some cars might have more than 1, but it isn't universal and the vast majority do seem to only have 1.)
4: you can't DNF in the game currently, and nor can AI. Drivers will always finish a race.

There's other stuff that has been known for months now, like no Silly Season and no retirements. It's easily going to be the best NASCAR game of the past decade, but Iracing hasn't seemed to do much to innovate, more just merge Thunder 04 and Thunder 05 into one game.

This Sunday is the last race of the season, and almost certainly the last race of the current Playoff format. Corey Heim won the Truck Championship, a deserved win, but Connor Zilisch lost by 2 spots to Jesse Love. Zilisch, who dominated the entire season including after a nasty wreck that put him out for 2 races, securing 10 wins on the season, lost to a guy who only won once.
Personally I am routing for 2 things this Sunday. 1: Denny finally winning a championship, purely so his father can see him finally reach the top of the sport before he passes. 2: The final death of this dogshit format.

While I sympathize with Chris Gayle, if he had let Denny stay out and then he had a tire failure it would be awful, but still. So much hope, so much effort, gone in a instant to Kyle "Whip Crackin'" Larson. What does Denny have to do to win?

I'm starting to feel schadenfreude for Dennis. It's not even fun to post >dannis hamlel anymore.

I hope this kills the playoffs. It likely won't, though. They'll just make the final round more races and call it a solution.

This is the most likely solution, which sucks.
Personally I really want a chase type system, it's clear NASCAR wants the championship to be a constant neck and neck battle between drivers, but a chase would also appease the points autists to a degree. It would also be way easier to convince NASCAR to turn a chase format back into full season points system, because NASCAR sure as hell isn't going to jump from Playoffs back to a 36 race point battle.

If you look at the entire text chain, it's completely damning. If they talk that way about SRX, it pretty much confirms that they tried to go after IndyCar and lock them out of racing on ISC/SMI tracks.

Phelps called Richard Childress, a man who has devoted his life to stock car racing, a "stupid redneck". If he talks that way about a long-time team owner, who has put his foot in his mouth recently but still has been a part of the sport for 50+ years, imagine what he says about the fans? And that one guy who called Childress a "cuck" for taking a photo with the president. I want to see their texts during the Bubba Saga. It pretty much confirms that NASCAR management are corporate woke types and tried to chase all the good ol' boy fans out and replace them with normies and blacks (Chicago, BLM, etc.). That's not how NASCAR works.

Remember when we thought these guys would save us from Brian France? They might be even worse. Phelps needs to immediately resign or I see a USAC/CART style split incoming.

It's so bad that you've got Reddit calling for Phelps' head, and they usually tow the party line on everything but the playoffs.

Phelps worked for NFL prior to becoming involved with NASCAR. It's unfortunately no surprise that he is a corporate moron of the highest order who doesn't understand stock car racing.

That was a Spire Motorsports Co-owner.
I feel like these text exchanges have been the final nail in the coffin for NASCAR's current leadership, alongside the mess of the playoffs this year, Mamba Smith and his twitter retardation, and the general disdain for the NASCAR State Media I've seen just about everywhere over this year. NASCAR needs to shake things up and win back fan support very quickly, because this is getting to a breaking point extremely fast.

I have been wishing since day one that Indycar would join the suit on exactly this basis. The fact they were shook by SRX is hilarious. But I went to an SRX race and it was actually fun, so that's enough of a threat to them, I guess.

(On the other hand, this is also proving that NASCAR is just that petty enough that if they did join the suit, you know Team Penske would be failing tech every week.)

Quick someone start a rumor that Paul Tracy was sent there as a covert agent to wreck so many cars they ran out of money.

The current Mamba situation is unbelievable. And the state media is 100% true.

But at the end of the day this is a family company. Nothin' changes unless the Frances think it should change. And nothing will do that but the bad TV numbers.
 
You'd think with F1 and now Indycar having a boom period that NASCAR would get it's head out of its ass and change things around, short of an open revolt against the France family, doesn't seem likely. It's been chasing an expanding audience the wrong way for 2 decades and it's quite frankly annoying.

You can say that but from the outside looking at these texts and how the sport has been acting, they seem to believe that they are not just the only game in town but in the world and they can't possibly fail, only be failed. Hubris and arrogance of the highest order. I don't think they will learn even if the whole series crashed and burned.

The truth and the anti-trust problem is they're not wrong. They said 'put a knife in it' about SRX. What are they saying to their own trackrunning division about anyone more serious having a chance? The team owners went along with the no-suit provision that started this whole thing because how the hell do you start a new series with NASCAR themselves running half the tracks and their cowed 'compeition' SMI runs the other half... With a couple indies mixed in who also don't want to lose a Cup date.

They're arrogant but they DO hold all the cards.

F1 has shown that even at the highest level of international racing, teams still can protest these things by not providing the series with their talent and presence. While one can look at things like the FISA-FOCA war or the 2005 GP at Indianapolis, I would expect the team with the biggest bone to pick to figure out something that really can get these pricks very annoyed. It might not be pleasant but this arrogance needs to be punished. They even could look at the Indy split of 1996 as the worst possible case of such arrogance being punished in the past.

I agree but I can't help but think all those examples are 'why not to challenge NASCAR'. Nobody but NASCAR won The Split, everyone else lost and lost big. You DO hear F1 griping like that now and then but you can do that. Breakaway F1 could go 'fuck it, Zandvoort (after that contract expires), all the UK tracks, Adelaide, all the places you miss? We're going there.' Breakaway NASCAR is on short tracks for late models unless they got SMI to go along with it.

Though i wonder if NASCAR would attempt to use field fillers and how effective it would be if the best drivers and teams withheld their talent?
