He stepped down as a mod and nobody cared. So he started posting about how the forum wasn't as fun anymore and nobody cared. So he upped the ante with a self-ban and nobody cared. Then after like a week or so I assume like all the admins (and a bunch of the "prominent" users like a lot of the "sales" experts) who quit he realized he had just wanted to be on Twitter the entire time and didn't need the forum.

Bit of a late question, but what made BronsonLee remove his reset account? I know he was sulking about nobody falling for his obvious banbaits and abhorrent (even for their standards) threads. He also mentioned that he hated vidya, but i can't find a real trigger that might cause his ass to be BTFO'ed so hard to make him do this.
Maybe he doesn't want to be recognised as a gritty-poster while doing salesforce work for the capitalist machine?

That's what's always struck me as odd about conversations online involving asexuals. Like, normal asexuals that live in the real world don't really have it affect their day-to-day lives almost at all. Maybe getting mildly annoyed when parents ask if they have a bf/gf or something, but that's hardly earth-shattering. Somehow, though, these internet aces' identity as a person who doesn't fuck is so profoundly impactful upon their entire existence they have to bring it up constantly.

I mean, obviously it's so they can get oppression bonus points for being a "sexual minority", but I'm just perpetually amazed that they can find so much to bitch about when their sexual identity is wrapped up in what they don't do.

A lot of asexuals seem to be people with lower sex drive who think that not wanting to have sex every second of every day, like they imagine the rest of the world wants, means they're asexual - there's all sorts of terms like grey-ace and the sapiosexuals and the like so they can say 'I'm special because I don't want sex often' rather than 'I don't have sex often'.

Also, I'd imagine many of them are on anti-depressants or other meds that do lower the libido, but again, it's not the same as being asexual, it's just another way to get oppression points.

People had a lot of complaints, but as with the Ghostbusters reboot and Gamergate and things of that ilk, it got boiled down to 'crybaby men hate women and minorities in their entertainment!'

Because these people don't do nuance. Their ideological enemies never have a point, they're always completely wrong and they and their allies are always completely right. If you ever do something wrong, then you were never an ally to begin with and become completely wrong.

It's why you shouldn't trust anyone who says all the criticism came from racism and sexism. It's fine to acknowledge that there was a bit of that, though there was only a bit. But if they claim all criticism of one of their sacred cows is based on bigotry, they're someone who has given up reason for ideology - like the vast majority of ResetEra.

It's also why you should never trust anyone who claims cancel culture isn't real. They are, at best, woefully naive. And in the case of people like the ones that get highlighted in this thread, their main problem is that it makes them look bad, so they want to pretend it doesn't exist. Because to them, cancel culture doesn't go far enough, because the person is (usually) still alive at the end of it.

I'd argue that there was already some of that in episode 7, but as you guys are already saying it was a small minority that everyone could easily ignore (unless you exclusively use 4chan's /tv/ board as your only source of opinions regarding movies, and it's probably what they did).

But when you have a victim complex, you start searching for everyone opposed to your view to paint the majority as bad. It's the same reason why they hate gamers, they think the person who screams in the microphone in a COD match is the standard and not the exception that everyone already made fun of since the birth of online play.
