Literally growing into their parents. Let's go back and cancel a game from a time when everyone was happy, normal and capable of having fun without reeeeeing.

Who cares if it's even all that good a game, at least devs of years gone by could do weird shit or have a laugh. Nowadays you get called Hilter and Resetera tries to ruin your life for having some fun.
And if what happened during the BLM event in Fortnite and the media fearmongering over Alt-Right indoctrination because kids are ignoring them is any indication Gen Z/Alpha is already repeating the cycle.

Can't wait to see the shitshow the Right will turn into 10-20 years from now.

How the fuck did they expect people who wanted to play a game to react to having preachy bullshit shoved in their face? How is this different than ramming in some "just say no to drugs" bullshit or other non-fun non-game shit? Maybe kids who have been at school all day, or whatever, aren't interested in that shit and just want to play a game without being preached at by some shitty SJW loser who is apparently incapable of getting an actually willing audience and has to hijack a game.

Where do they get this notion that games have to developed with the intention of getting people who have had no interest in playing them playing them? This is what destroys franchises and drives away the people who were actually spending money, or had a real interest. There are plenty of books/movies that exist with a premise that wouldn't be for me, but I never had any thought of "They should change this this and this to make this more approachable to me" since thats fucking insane and people tend to make something with a specific goal in mind. I guess I should start whining about how 4X is too complicated so I should be able to play it like an FPS or action game.

You must be new here. This is what these assclowns always do.

Everything must be accessible to everyone, dragged down to the lowest common denominator, must be made more accessible, so as to eliminate troublesome concepts like meritocracy, value, and achievement. It's not that they want to, in any way, actually make games more accessible to others; their response to actually disabled people who tell them to fuck off with this shit speaks far louder than anything else, in that regard.

The traditional paradigms of gaming, where people get their own rewards depending on the work they put in, is anathema to their worldview, where they are permanently coddled. They want a situation where their own laziness and ineptitude are, effectively, subsidized and legitimized. They envision a world where personal achievement is impossible.

"I can't do this thing, so nobody else can either."

You know the funny thing? Customizable difficulty CAN be done well. I was quite impressed with the array of difficulty options in Fell Seal. If you really want to make the game easier, you can, but you can also make it significantly harder. It's not inherently a bad option to have.

... but you're still a little bitch if you put it on Game Journalist difficulty.
Off topic but finding someone else who played Fell Seal makes my pee pee hard.

Well it's a good ass game, it should be fucking cherished.

Onto Retardera, they believe in their small tranny oppressed minds that they are the center of the universe.

Probably because Ethel and Larry didn't know what to do when their kid screamed "kill the darkies" and started shoving icepops down his throat until he passed out with his pants down. So, Ethel and Larry told him what a special boy he is and it's "ok" to act out by shoving a broomstick in his ass.

In my head that's every sperg on reseteras life story. Coddled, spoiled and 100% retarded.

Era is the equivalent of a 6 year old at Christmas who just got a fuckton of presents but sits there and seethes because little Timmy got something shinier. At least children are honest with their intentions though, Era and the like just use disabled people as a bludgeoning tool to beat down any of the numerous rational arguments against them.

There is no real fundamental difference between a game that essentially plays itself and watching someone LP it except for the participation sticker you get for proving you can push buttons once in a while.

"I don't have free time for difficult games" then why the fuck are you playing them DSP.

There's numerous individuals out there with various forms of colorblindess yet for some reason you never hear people demanding every game/movie/show ensure it accommodates every possible version of it. Wonder why! If they wanted a cause actually worth fighting for they'd demand every game have subtitles because deaf and hard of hearing people can't just practice being less of it. Instead they compare being able to roll yourself into a building so you don't starve to death outside to beating a boss that takes a modicum of practice and skill. Hell a lot of people don't have the money to spend to buy a different console plus game(s) and online sub for it yet there's no meltdown over how Insomniac making Spiderman a PS4 exclusive is a fatwa against accessibility.

This isn't even mentioning the additional time/cost/effort required to add in all these new features that appeal to less than 1% of its target audience.

Just fucking acquire talent.

One of the most important skills you're supposed to learn as you mature into adulthood is to choose your battles. This is invaluable when you work with managers and co workers, or when you're raising children.

Every battle is an existential struggle to these people. The self importance of these mod notes when they close threads and go into their discord troikas to decide which fascists get noodled is amazing. Over what people say on an internet forum. So important. That's why words are violence; if they are, even the nobody mentally diseased and deranged like the trooneras become important.

It's basically that scene from 'The Incredibles' where the main villain of that movie 'Syndrome' says, "And when everyone's super, no one will be" and this is what ResetEra basically wants anyway.

To be fair, the inmates let their prison warden off with it as well

And now we go back to the "gamers".

The whole topic is crying and screaming for bans for anyone that tells these people to stop giving up in life the second something is "hard".

I look at Swift_Gamer's photo, and I do not believe he has "a lot going on" in his life. Certainly not too much to spare some time learning how to play a videogame.

Here's something a lot of them seem to fall into the trap of - playing ALL the games. People feel like only having an hour or so to dedicate to a game means it should be easy and quick to finish, they don't want to spend meaningful time with any one game because they want to play ALL the games. It's become so easy to just access EVERYTHING that for some there's a scratching at the back of your head that says "if you don't beat X quickly you'll never get around to Y". This happens to me, but as a normie I just accept that that's on me and I live with it, I don't demand all games be altered to cater to my particular neuroses.

Add to that that they feel if a game is too hard or not accessible enough it's evil rather than just shrugging and being okay with everything not being for everyone, they're probably always miserable while playing games.

Isn't Neogaf pretty comfy these days, post-purge?

The revolution can never be comfortable, if it is that means the party ranks have been infiltrated by class enemies. That's why the purges will never end. There will always be a need to constantly be banning people for ever more trivial and insane speechcrimes.

Hecht just delivered the new manifesto in the members feedback topic

Hello everyone. Thank you to everyone who offered their input in this thread. The team has been reviewing and going over the feedback and discussing what can be done to address the most common issues that came up. Here are some of the improvements we believe we can start working on immediately, along with a few suggestions on how members can help us get there.

Things that we need to do:
  • Implementing threadbans site wide for minor infractions. This is hopefully a way to keep discussions on track in cases where site bans are not required, or when a warning is not sufficient on its own. Moving to another thread to continue whatever caused the threadban, or repeating the offense that resulted in a threaddban in the first place would still be cause for escalation.
  • Set up a separate system for ban appeals. We’re looking at a tech solution that we think is promising and should help us process these faster and get responses out faster, cutting out the need for emails. We’re going to make this a high priority.
  • Investigate allowing members to view their own infraction history. There are some challenges here but if we can make it work we want to make it work.
  • Get more moderators. It's not like we ever stopped, but with how the team has been stretched thin lately we clearly need to ramp up the search. More staff will help us process everything more quickly. We are especially committed to bringing on more Asian and Muslim moderator candidates.
  • More detailed public ban banners across the board, to explain bans more clearly. "Duration Pending" banners are used because regular moderators cannot ban for longer than 1 month; this is to avoid hasty permabans or bans of excessive length. The text in these banners will be clarified to explain that they are temporary placeholders until they can be reviewed.
  • Ensure that bans that are extended due to alt-accounts or other reasons are documented in banners
  • Try to strike the right balance between bans, warnings, and threadbans, or even just a mod coming to tell people to chill, to ensure that threads don't get derailed by a ban and that penalties are proportionate to the infraction. Better communication through mod participation in threads can help with this.
  • Preferred pronouns on profiles. This has been in the works for a while and we’re hoping to get it done along with the other high priority tech items.
  • An "online" indicator for staff members who are available, so that users know who is around for them to come to.
  • Prefixes will be expanded to enable members to better filter the content they're looking for. This has also been in the works, but may come after the other tech items as we've bumped those up higher in priority.
Things users can do to help:
  • Criticizing moderation and the practices is fine. Being a complete asshole to the team or any member of the team is not. Neither users nor staff should have to just sit back and take verbal abuse. If you can't at minimum realize that there is a person, not a robot, on the other end of your words, then nothing productive can happen.
  • Lines of communication between staff and members can only work if there’s an understanding that it is done in good faith. We don’t sit here tending to the site for hours each day because we’re bored and love punishment. We’ve made mistakes in the past with handling feedback and the point of this thread was to reboot that effort.
  • In general, just be nicer to each other. This shouldn't be Twitter, where people just respond to a post with a petty snipe and move on about their day. This is supposed to be a community where we can sit down and have actual discussions, with the occasional poop thread that is probably unnecessary. Console wars and hostility BY FAR make up the largest portion of our reports. Simply letting people enjoy things would do wonders for the tone of the site and the stress of the staff.
We hope to be able to follow up soon when we implement some of the concrete features we’re committing to here.

Bans, bans, bans, bans....

Going to be some long nights for Hecht on the bottle.

My preferred pronoun is going to be Kiwi.

It’s no more different than white characters creating black Basketball Americans in NBA 2K when you have them wearing BLM shirts, but at one point 2K forced you to pay $70 for the next installment. That is, until they backtracked recently.

I still have yet to play this game on the PS3. Does ResetEra like this unironically, or do they find this one to be ”problematic“ for them?
