That's not what their prominent users think, they regularly complain about how racist (and transphobic/sexist/etc.) the forum and staff is. To grab two examples from a thread I remembered:

Fórum UOL Jogos once was the 7h biggest forum in the world and the moderation was paid! But what killed the forum (now is closed) was not the moderation.

Ceriums plan to monetise the mentally disturbed work. At least Morrigan quit before the severance pay gets issued LMAO. Thread started OK but now they are sperging out, running to their splinter forums with 26 members online.

No fucking way, a website like ResetEra would never be worth that much money. They're so shitty, that I don't even want to watch their stream. It's a good thing that I was saved. If I had to guess I'd say there's some money coming into ResetEra, and in the future they're going to have a huge event like EVO or something, probably with some prize pool. They got big sponsors backing them, and at EVO they were getting a free stage, I'm sure they'll get some kind of prizes at their major event. If they ever do become that big, they're in for a lot of money.

I'd say ResetEra can be worth like 10,000$, maybe. And if they do get money, they'll probably blow it all up

They're delusional. Without doxxing myself I've seen a similair acquisition like this (although not a forum, will be fascinating to see how they handle this) and one of the first things they'll do is absolutely nothing. I mean it. They'll wait 6+ months until people forget about this or think the acquisition was a nothing burger. Maybe in month 3 quietly add in a new feature that allows users to report admin/moderation issues directly to corporate.

Then sometime next year carefully start to phase out the moderation staff as they slowly, but inevitably fuck up.

You know how everyone on that site complains about the moderation team being overzealous and powerhungry? You know how everything is an affront to everyone on that forum, where people get outraged over the smallest thing? That's about to cut the other way real soon. Wait until that Nepthanoe character does something slightly out of favor with enough people that will justify him (her?) removal. Maybe it's an unfair ban or their usual casual racist tirades against white people that does it, but make no mistake one of the first things they do in these kind of acquisitions is mark all of the old staff/potential troublemakers and figure out ways to get rid of them. And as soon as they can get away with it (in this case the measuring metric is public opinion) it's ogre. It only takes one bad move. They're not even employees in this case, they don't have any rights here.

Don't cry for them, it's the community they chose and the culture they fostered. But the karma (and this thread) will be hilarious in 2022. There will be full on public meltdowns, of that I'm 100% sure.

In the end, that's all that really should matter. Why does REE care about who owns their forum or that their community will slowly get destroyed over the next few years? The most important thing is that no one was racist about it, and that's something we can all feel good about.
