Always a combination of both, but with the added diaspora element of 'When I say [x culture], I really mean [x-American culture], because it's really all about me.' None of the people who write these sorts of articles give a shit about the people who live in the areas they've left behind. They don't consume any of their media - they're 99% of the time at the level of childhood memories and family traditions defining their knowledge of the culture they're allegedly defending. And, of course, it doesn't help that usually said culture has a strong Western influence, because America's cultural imperialism is a thing. An influence that the diaspora SJW ignores, just as they ignore that people actually from a culture are much more inclined to share it than people insecure about their connection to the culture, who feel personally attacked by The Wrong Types enjoying it.

The tl;dr: narcissism + racial insecurity = attacking white people for cultural appropriation by people whose elders think they're whiny bitches.

Should leave everyone quite salty considering the game is censored and a bunch of random NPCs were made black for the Western release. Like just a month ago people were complaining about how censored the game was an now everyone is championing it for being lewd even though it's censored? No one can keep their story straight. Well actually maybe they can as all that really matters is if a game is good and not if it is lewd or not lewd.
