Why is the left obsessed with collective punishment? On the one hand they claim banning abortion isn’t popular in republican states, on the other they want to starve people in those states for banning abortion.

Because these losers have had millions of hours of TV and movies piped into their heads that demonize anyone they disagree with. It's been indoctrination for almost four decades at this point

I really like that when he tries to think of some economic punishment the biggest thing he can think of is taking Disney away, because to him that would be the end of the world. His entire worldview revolves around it so much that he thinks disney is some massive job creator in every state.

It's funny that they think corporations are going to completely tank their ability to make money just to stick it to those dang republicans. Wishful thinking at its finest.

Oh, hey, a moderator admitting to banning opinions. Move along, nothing to see here.

"But if you think we'd be tolerating people defending this decision".

Four years and they finally admit it.

The Roe V Wade thing is dumb and shouldn't be happening but lol at people in middle to upper class lives on a video game forum where they gush about all the products they consoom saying the US is a failed state.
Eh, it's a judicial solution. The only really dumb people are the ones who thought it would last forever, especially with the shaky ground it was built on.

Most honest liberal lawyers and judges will admit, even if only privately, that Roe was built on sand and wasn't ruled on any real rational basis. Ginsberg even did a few interviews where she talked about how she hated how the ruling was done and wished a better case (with a more solid legal backing) was taken up instead to champion the issue.

All this is for shock value it seems, but nobody who has knowledge of the law should be shocked. ERA is just being drug along by their noses like cattle without really stopping to think about how they'll do better. If they really wanted to make a change they'd be campaigning on the state level where they live for example, because state laws stick longer than judicial fiat.

A few of them tried to suggest passing a Constitutional amendment to guarantee abortion. Ironically, the probability of passing an amendment like that is basically zero. (For what it's worth, the probability of passing any amendment is also basically zero since 38 states have to agree.)

And yes, I agree. The signal-to-noise ratio on Era is basically 99-to-1. There are a few people actually campaigning, but most of them shriek about it and virtue signal without doing anything.

They're just projecting their own failure to launch onto society. I couldn't last a second semester at community college and OBVIOUSLY its societies fault!

So Roe hasn't even been overturned and they are already in histrionics about the next thing

I like this a lot. They have no idea how cases get to the Supreme Court, they simply think it can just start declaring all these things illegal. These are the "highly informed activists" of the progressive vanguard.

Assume for a moment that the Alito decision is legit (as I said earlier I'm skeptical that an Alito decision like this can command five votes when there's six votes to write Mississippi's law into Casey) and will return abortion to the states. It took anti-abortion forces 50 years of maximum effort to get this to the Supreme Court with a favorable majority and do it. (And they had lost once and wound up with a tougher to take down opinion in Casey as the result.) Even with such a victory, abortion would still be completely legal and less restricted than under Roe in at least 24 states immediately and many more will undo their outdated laws. This is the Grand Victory that will lead to multiple states outlawing interracial marriage, birth control and mandating racial segregation (which Nepenthe and others* support) and those cases being challenged up to the Supreme Court which will strike all those rulings down too. (Which they interpret as the Supreme Court ordering those things on the entire country.) This is what they think of their hypercompetent omnipotent enemies and it once again says more about them and how they'd act if they achieved a single victory after fifty years of unrelenting actual effort.

I think Bungie will just be the first in a lot of game companies making a "stand" over the Roe vs. Wade issue. For these people, the right to murder your own baby is their most sacred of rights. Honestly, I'm expecting a lot of civil unrest, too. Resetera isn't unique in their limited understanding of the Supreme Court. There are lot of people saying, "Holy crap, abortion's just about to be made entirely illegal!!!"
