Black women are 6% of the population. Even if White House Press Secretary was a randomized position, rather than being a position for people who come up the PR ranks of The Party, the position as we know it only really dates back to 1953 and there's only been 34 total since it was first named in 1929. Anyone rational with a sense of history would only really expect to have had any black person, let alone a woman, to have ascended to the position this century since it wasn't until 2003 that the Democrats allowed a black man into their House leadership positions. (We likely should have expected it to have happened first from the Republican Party since they're the party of the first elected black Senator, first black National Security Advisor, first black Secretary of State, first black woman National Security Advisor and first black woman Secretary of State.)

Jean-Pierre herself is likely getting the position less because she's Black and LGBT and more because her prior position was as the number two. (Her background is coming up through campaigns in increasingly high positions, first John Edwards, then Obama (2012), Martin O'Malley (second-in-command), and finally Kamala Harris' chief of staff with a stint as the spokesperson for MoveOn.)

Sure, trans people exist, but they make 1% of the population. Gender dysphoria is a rare disorder and we shouldn't change such an important part of our language to coddle 70 million people out of 7 billion.
