This is sad. Guy made some legit point in a very respectful manner, even if the fine folks at resetera disagree with him there's no call to simply silence him. He didn't bring up anything that could be perceived as toxic and he wasn't even aggressive at all. He was literally banned for wrongthink. If you can't debate what he said on the merits of what he said, you have issues and you need a therapist. Fuck this bullshit behavior.

How do you say “we want to foster an environment for open discussion” then ban someone for doing that? The mod is saying there’s no room for discussion on topics they’ve already decided the right answer.

Since GAF used to LOVE Dnd analogies, I guess you can say RetroGAF is lawful good, Neogaf has become lawful neutral, and ResestERA has is Lawful Evil.

For the record, I have no intention of trying to dox this guy, as he so feared I ran here to get people to do, I just wanted to share a public conversation I had elsewhere with someone who is intent on carrying the water of a forum I criticized in my article and in this thread.

Truth. Even with a very early ban showing how ludicrous the moderation is going to be (especially when public registration happens), they're enjoying a huge boost in traffic from online news + the "Facebook Effect" of exclusive emails making people want to see what the big deal is.

Less sarcastically, I know I didn't give a shit about video game politics until GAF-types made it clear that I wasn't allowed to call Mass Effect 3 a bad game for gameplay reasons. "You can't hate the game except for political reasons" and the actual game goes undiscussed and the subject of conversation is now that I'm Hitler because I think the shooting sucks in a game that happens to have gay people in it.
