The Last Night one is blatantly a salt factory, at least. You don't need to look at it to guess it's 90% 'THAT GUY IS A SHIT'.

When companies replace their workforces with foreigners no wonder there's a group of people opposing unlimited immigration. It's been happening illegally (particularly in construction and landscaping) and via visas (farm workers, sometimes blue collar workers like welders, and now white collar workers). Before Trump, the trend was accelerating with businesses (FWD.US) and advocacy groups pushing to bring in even more people. It was disturbing to see politicians fall all over themselves to please corporate lobbyists. Even more so when some policies, like amnesty, would help their declared ideological opponents.

I personally think the whole thread was the best on looking into the mental gymnastics of SJWs. Especially for a place like NeoGAF.

i really think we need empathy training in schools. some kind of secular philosophy teaching that allows sheltered white kids to try and understand adversity, because i sure as fuck didnt at that age and neither do these kids. at least something to counter their views on things being gleaned from the worst of youtube videos, social media and the internet at large

People will not take your post seriously, OP. Instead they will complain about generational definitions.

Personally, I think you are spot on. Post-Millennials are more socially conservative. It seems to be backlash against their Gen X/Millennial parents, but also strongly informed by 9/11 - they're called the homeland generation for a reason.

People who think the old people will just die off, and conservatism will end that way, are in for a rude awakening.

This is purely anecdotal, but whenever I interact with this generation, I sense utter disdain for social justice, moral ambivalence, and a very strong attachment to "making money" - I think the 2008/2009 housing bubble informed their world view.
For them, everything is ironic, sarcastic, should be made fun of and/or not taken seriously. They're highly relativistic.

Fun fact: Steve Bannon seems to think the same way about this new generation, that's why he's trying to tap into them so hard. He can use them to further his nationalist agenda.

I like to call Gen Z a miniature Weimar Republic because they grew up in the shadow of the largest culture shift in a century (from fear of Soviets, to unbridled optimism, to fear of terrorism in less than 15 years), a largely incompetent presidency in their childhood alongside constant war, and to top it off the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression. They were ripe for a strongman to come into the picture.

Punks often didn't give a shit about politics at all, but when they did, they were generally extreme, but that included the Nazi punks the Dead Kennedys told to fuck off. Nazi imagery was not at all uncommon in the punk scene.

People spent a decade saying Avril Lavigne was "punk" because she wore wallet chains and a lot of eye shadow. No one seemed to notice her sappy teenage romance music was no less poppy than Britney Spears.

So I don't think the "punk" identity is one that is actually understood by these people.

NeoGAF was always one of those forums full of people who loved to talk about vidya games but never actually play them.

10+ years ago I was a member of a car forum and there was a member named McLaren777 who was a huge NeoGAF and Sony fanboy.

He was a super hardcore Christian, had a bunch of crazy ideas about stuff, and in retrospect was a serious lolcow long before I had ever heard the term.

For example, when Colin McRae died he would play vidya in his honor, at home alone.

He was a virgin till marriage type, and his dates would consist on inviting this equally off girl over to play 24 hour marathons of Gran Turismo. Keep in mind he was in his mid-20s at this point in life. He ended up marrying her.
