TOBYHANNA − A man indicated he downloaded child pornography images in order to “entertain issues he needed to suppress,” according to investigators.

Christopher John Goldberg, 32, of Jasmine Drive in A Pocono Country Place, told investigators he believed the images he downloaded aren’t illegal if they depict no sexual acts.

Goldberg was charged Wednesday morning with 64 counts of child porn possession and one count of criminally using a communication facility (computer). He was placed in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail and is awaiting a district court hearing.

On April 22, Monroe County District Attorney’s Office Detective Brian Webbe (who conducts investigations to catch those downloading and sharing child porn online) used means to discover a suspect computer possessing child porn image files. The files contain images of prepubescent girls with their private parts exposed.

Webbe identified and traced the suspect computer to Goldberg’s residence.

On June 28, Webbe and fellow investigators executed a search warrant at the residence, finding Goldberg home at the time. Investigators found cellphones belonging to Goldberg and computers including a Dell laptop.

The downloads folder on one of Goldberg’s cellphones contained a child porn video and 53 child porn images, Webbe said.

The video shows a girl between ages 12 and 14 wearing only a skirt and dancing suggestively, Webbe said. The 53 images are of nude children between ages 4 and 12 involved in various activities on a beach.

The Dell laptop showed the presence of software used to download child porn as well as files with names indicative of child porn, Webbe said. Two such files in the computer’s downloads folder were corrupt and inaccessible to investigators.

Goldberg told investigators he has many fetishes and had downloaded many different types of porn including images of nude children, Webbe said. He indicated downloading these images was an outlet for his urges and that he believed what he had downloaded isn’t illegal.
