Considering the Romance is optional, at the literal end of the game (just before the credits roll) and takes up all of one cutscene (and a nice, HQ image of the choice at the end of the cutscene) I'm shocked it's become this big of an issue. It was a really nice scene and all when I got to it, but it seems like such a minor thing to get angry about.

Fire Emblem has "characters" because it has permadeath. Nintendo of America operates in a different way and will do a lot of stuff with translations and always has. But the main company in Japan, if they do anything it's because they think it'd be an interesting concept, like a few years ago when Aonuma was musing about a girl Link it was simply because he thought it could shake up the status quo of Zelda somewhat. But games journalists and such were all "such progressive much social justice" when the dude was literally just proposing a simple gender flip and dropped it because it went nowhere as a game idea.

Not to sperg out on this, but I think it's stupid that they made Link right handed in Breath of the Wild.
