Ah yes, the favorite lock message of the mods when they need to keep the protected posters unbanned. 98% of the forum isn't "productive conversation", but the only time you see this lock message is when the likes of RedMercury are acting extra exceptional. Or when their hypocrisy is showing.

Finding out what RedMercury's NeoGAF account was is the mystery that keeps on giving. I still want to say it's our friend Besada, but that theory just holds no weight other than feelings.

I am the last person to defend gow5, but digital definitely had a huge impact on its sales. To be specific, Microsoft starting up their game pass thing one month prior, and giving existing xbox customers the opportunity to transfer over for a dollar a month means a shitload of people are going to play every major Microsoft title on release without buying it for the next two years.

Yeh, they essentially used Gears 5 as a loss leader to pump the launch of Game Pass. If you only wanted to play the campaign mode, you had no reason at all to buy the game -- just sign on to the subscription and beat it in a week or two. Trying to draw any broader conclusions from its physical or digital sales isn't going to get anybody very far.

Honestly, I don’t think GamePass had an impact on sales, Gears is played out, just like Halo.
