I didn't follow the gaf side of things, but I don't recall them claiming to be anything other than a circle jerk of moderators banning people that disagree with them. ResetEra seems to be genuinely surprised when their prominent black posters turn out to be racist white guys, or when their attempt at review bombing turns out to be so flaccid that it has no real impact. They are always complaining about the nazis infesting the forum without once looking in a mirror.

Their whole cancel culture mentality is a great example. People like Joe Rogan and PewDiePie aren't allowed to be linked, as if their insignificant forum can take down 2 of the biggest YouTube celebrities simply by not linking their content. They are willing to launch harassment campaigns, review bombs, and drive people to suicide over a throw away tweet from 8 years ago, only to be caught completely off guard when the wider gaming internet shuns them for that behavior.

If you were around at the beginning of Resetera or if your account is old enough, you can get away with a lot of stuff. Especially if you're not use to constant "deviant" opinions. It seems to be the case of that Kinthey.

It's not bulletproof since they're all unhinged, but Resetera's staff seems to value their longtime posters or the people that supported the site from the start. If you're a newcomer though, you'll be banned rather quickly.

It tells you a lot about how unhinged they are. We're past power-freak.

I gotta disagree. GAF had Bishop and whatever that fat guy's name was. Also the militant trannies. They ran it like an asylum. They banned people for almost no reason every hour. It was a minefield. Seriously, think back to an average thread on a busy day on GAF - at least one person was banned a thread, sometimes for things as trivial as comparing a woman's ass to garlic bread (serious as a heart attack, I saw it happen).

While some of the same unsavory and stupid mods are on Reset, they at least seem more mature now and less prone to drop the hammer. I think because now that more people have a stake in the profits they're less willing to be reckless. I am sure they're still just as woke and PC, but a lot less likely to ban or act like a nanny.
