Holy shit, they're being even more vile than normal. And that's saying something, given they're the gaping festering anus of the gaming community.
None of these little soy filled faggots could tell you a single thing about his actual beliefs. They just know that Kotaku told them he was a bad person, not of tribe, and must be destroyed and hey hey, someone they could hate with permission and not only that, they'd get asspats and tendies for doing so.
They genuinely thought that they could whine at Square Enix until they would blacklist one of the most famous and storied composers in the world to appease them, and the fact that he didn't just fuck off and die for them seems to have been a sore spot.

I don't like to celebrate people death, but I'll give myself a pass on this one. Sugiyama was a huge piece of shit. I don't care about his comments on gays, but he can go fuck himself over his denial of japanese crimes during WW2. Japanese behave like monsters back then and they still somewhat refuse to accept it because of their dumb japanese pride.
It's not a secret, I regularly play guitar at some quite big concert over there. It's a really fucked up society mostly because it's ruled by old conservatives fuck like Sugiyama. He was influential as an artist, but making good video music doesn't give you a pass. He was the template of why everything fucked up in Japan.

His stance on LGBT isn't really the problem. It's not even that he thinks this or that about WW2. The problem is that he used is huge influence and some political power he had (DQ and SE are no joke in Japan) to further his ideas into the conservatist party in Japan during decades. He's reported having played a big role in Shinzo Abe stances around his 30 to 40 (denial of WW2 crimes, putting back an army, bring up the tension with Taiwan/South-Korea...).
It's not a crime-of-thought problem, the guy went balls-deep into his rotten ideas and used his huge leverage to influence a big part of the japanese of the society. People in the west underestimate how influential and powerful he was in Japan.
I've never been a peaceful person or anti-war dumbass, I even think Bush wasn't that wrong to go in the middle-east, but what the japanese did during WW2 and all those japanese morbid ventures are something else entirely.

Asking a nationalist in a nationalistic country to go "Yup, China -- fucking CHINA, the cumrag of the East, the ones currently harvesting organs from minorities they have in concentration camps -- is right, we're bad people" is a bit much. I can absolutely understand why he would reject the idea of what happened during WW2 based on that. I guess Japan's admitted to it, or there's ironclad evidence from someone not in China? I dunno, and I don't really care.
Japan is hardly the only country to do fucked up shit during WW2, and as Americans we had better get used to the idea because if (when) our war with China goes hot, they're absolutely going to use civilian human shields and claim we did the same kind of horrific shit.
Anyway, he wouldn't be the first person to refuse to believe his team did something fucked up. That doesn't make him some sort of monster, it makes him human.
And as for him using his "influence" -- So what? Because China (or Soros) wants Japan to feel their own version of White Guilt, it's a crime against globalism that he put forth other viewpoints? I don't buy it.

China is only second when it comes to confort women, forced prostitution and torture. It was mostly Korean young girls being abducted and being considered as animals.
Hard disagree on all those points. Humans are sensitive and he wasn't, spitting on the graves, souls and scars of all those women.
I'm as white as you can be and while I don't feel an once of guilt for what my ancestor did centuries ago, I won't spend my life covering what happened like Sugiyama did in Japan during all those years.

I do love how bad their suggestions for black characters is. It should be obvious that an Asian game that mostly draws from other Asian games wouldn't have many black characters in it. The suggestions for third tier Street Fighter and Punch Out characters is laughable.

This is another thing about ResetEra that they don't seem self aware about. They want Japanese developers to give up their Japanese identity to appeal to the Western audience. Sure, a lot of Nintendo characters appear Western, but are made through a Japanese lens.
How many unambiguously Latino/Hispanic characters are there in Smash? Zero, right? Has there been a big outcry online because of that? Hell, if King Hippo (someone with probably a bit more cultural cachet because he was in Captain N) was added as another Punch-Out rep he would be the only Polynesian rep in the series.
