They'd walk away with $0 if it was a god damn saint running the site. What, was Cerium supposed to ask for every volunteer-moderator's bank information and dish out $100k each? It's VOLUNTEER ONLY. If you want money for being a jannie, you apply for a job managing some corporation's complaint forum (Southwest is probably hiring!). But if you agree to do it for some random website for free; they'll happily accept your labor at no extra cost. This also means you are not entitled to receive the fuckoff 0.01% rich owner's bigdickmoney when he sells the website and laughs at you.

If the whiny bitchlets actually cared they'd do something. But they sat on neogaf and felt betrayed when they realized how it worked, sat on resetera and felt betrayed when they realized how it worked, and they're already talking about "moving to the next one." It's just an echochamber to vent their shit without trying to do anything they believe in. Because if any of them believed in the shit they preached, they wouldn't be on fucking resetera in the first place.

Call me if any of these spineless cowards somehow manage to miraculously operate a donation funded website where they pay their janitors in spite of having an audience willing to do it for free, and the owner "sells it fairly" by giving a cut of his sale money to his fat at-home jannies. I will eat my left tibia.

I completely unironically wouldn't be surprised if half the mods are feds and other miscellaneous assholes who actually are getting paid, which makes it extra funny that the freebie jannies have to compare their level of commitment to the ~community~ to them. For Nepenthe to demand the users pay her (and notably not any of the other mods) directly is asking them to effectively "pay" twice for the benefit of her "service".

She claims it's a "solution" to the problem. But it's not. How does, say, Royalan get paid when you donate to Nepenthe's ko-fi? How does Hecht buy his next bottle of booze thanks to the new $3.5 million in cash when you donate to Nepenthe's ko-fi? And how does any of this pay for Finale Fireworker's continued therapy and medication bills?
