This is context that some people coming from the Front Page Happenings are missing. Ostensibly, this is what Era was supposed to be after the splinter from GAF. Originally there were like 6 site owners footing the bill and ideas constantly were being floated along the lines of it being a co-op. Eventually Cerium gained control, but the rhetoric never stopped. Even the advertising for Era Clear is something along the lines of "help era keep the lights on" on every single page if you are a free user.
The moderators have been going on and on for years about how tired and underappreciated they are. Now all of a sudden they find the site was making bank all along, and they did it for free. They actually loved it, and it was a labor of love, and all the crying about compensation for "emotional labor" was a joke (or something).
That makes it much more hilarious. I don't have proof screenshots at hand, but I'm sure some earlier followers of this thread will. Hopefully the OP gets a refresher or something.

Animal Crossing has always been annoying in this way, you can't make multiple save files normally, so you'd have to delete what you had. Sunk Cost Fallacy interestingly works on trannies' digital stuff but not their bodies.

In some types of scams, this is exactly the sort of mark that scammers are looking for. People who are too prideful to admit that they have been had and so keep going along with it even when their intuition starts to tell them that something isn't right. Because the fear of confronting humiliation can be a powerful motivator to seek some other way out.
Sometimes you need to be able to say that you've been an idiot, you made embarrassing mistakes and somebody got one over on you. A mature adult needs to be able to say that in order to get their head back above water. An immature adult will instead resent people who try to help them because they hate the thought of that person having a lowered impression of their competence and intelligence, in addition to a lowered self-image.
The smart (or at least less stupid) ones are the users cottoning onto the fact that they've been paying Era Clear to "support" a forum making hundreds of thousand a year in profit. Nepenthe as always is a feeble retard who primary concern in the face of these revelations is epically owning the haters for pointing out that she does it for free.

Pretty sure the save files are just tied to the switch profile or something, I know my wife and kid were playing together on the same system so there must be some way to have more than one.

The couch multiplayer is tight, but there's a single village/island. You can't ever have more than one island on the console. Whomever plays first, that profile is the island representative and you have to count on that person to place bridges and do some of the more expansive questing in the game. You can have multiple other profiles sharing the same island.
In the case of the tranny being triggered by their old save data, they could make a new profile on their switch and continue to live on the island, but the animal residents when spoken to will occasionally reference people they've seen and interacted with. The nintendo animals will literally deadname the original profile that played, even if they delete that profile. They would have to delete the entire island and start over from scratch/day one, losing not only their house size and crafting recipe/catalog/achievement progress, but also their museum bug/fish/art collections and the animals they liked/had as residents, and the hassle of seasonal event items needing to be reacquired.
