I think having deep ties to a dangerous and abusive cult are a pretty bad thing. I'd rather have an elected leader leading a country and not some weird cult. It might not be quite Aum Shinrikyo but it's a pretty bizarre and corrupt organization that engaged in a lot of bribery. Her charges were absolute bullshit, they amounted to taking advice from the wrong person. It wasn't bribery, it wasn't corruption, it wasn't being a traitor (unlike those left-leaning lawmakers convicted of passing info on to North Korea a few years prior.) The whole scandal and trial was such ridiculous bullshit and could not have taken place outside of "the neurotic nation."
Park Geun-hye even spent seven hours in silence after the sinking of the Sewol ferry, in which 300 people died. This ferry was owned by the leader of the very same cult as her "advisor," who had bribed inspectors to look the other way at the fact it was massively overloaded, directly leading to it sinking with 300 people on board.
Her bizarre silence after this national tragedy, while spending hours with her "advisor," raised questions as to whether they had a sexual or other improper relationship well beyond merely being friends.
Sorry but Chappaquiddick had nothing on this bitch's fuckup.
