The repentance has to be sincere, not simply a recognition that you're going to Hell right now so you'd best pretend you're repenting. No omniscient God could be fooled by such a mockery of repentance. And Catholicism does say that literally anyone can be redeemed. It's a central tenet of the faith. The damning sin of Judas was not even betraying Jesus, but his subsequent suicide, a sin of despair, and despair is an inverted arrogance, the belief that he was capable of such a sin that an omnipotent God could not forgive it.
