But they weren't actually GOOD at said degree, because they're also lazy and empty.

Academic success at a high school level is more about having good memory/recall combined with a capacity/willingness to follow instructions. I guess that requires intelligence of a sort, but it's not something that engages higher order thinking very much.

Shitlibs come across as stupid, but I think there's more to it than just a general lack of cognitive ability. This 4chan post touches on it.

They can't independently reason things through and come to their own conclusions. Because their entire worldview presupposes certain conclusions. And they have trained themselves out of their ability to engage in cognitive processes that lead to conclusions they don't like. Instead, they filter everything through a fairly rigid set of presuppositions to make sure that everything confirms what they already believe to be true. I think everyone does this to a certain extent, it's a flaw of human psychology, but the modern left does it to a degree usually only seen in fairly insular cults. I'm not sure exactly when this started, I think the Obama presidency broke the brains of a lot of the left because Obama didn't cause the changes they expected, but they couldn't bring themselves to admit that Obama wasn't the great savior they thought he was, so they started escaping to world of imagination instead where everything worked the way they wanted the world to work.
